As a Product Designer, you'll design complex user interfaces for developer tools, lead product initiatives, and collaborate with engineering teams, ensuring a great user experience.
About WorkOS 🚀
WorkOS builds tools and services for developers to help them implement authentication, identity, authorization, and overall enterprise readiness. We’re a fully distributed team with employees across North American time zones. We’re well-funded, having raised $100m in funding from top investors including Greenoaks Capital, Lachy Groom, and Lightspeed Ventures. Our fast-growing customer base includes rapidly growing SaaS companies like OpenAI, Cursor, Perplexity, Vercel, Plaid, and hundreds of others
About the role 💭
We're looking for an experienced product designer who has experience designing complex, high-density user interfaces for developer tools and B2B enterprise products. You'll lead new initiatives and evolve existing products end-to-end, from definition through implementation, while collaborating with both engineering and product. Our process is systems-driven, feedback-oriented, and strategically informed by customer insights. We embrace AI tools to accelerate exploration and iteration, and encourage designers to leverage emerging technologies for both workflow efficiency and product innovation. You’ll operate as a systems thinker who translates customer feedback into scalable patterns that developers love.
Responsibilities ✔️
- Lead greenfield initiatives end-to-end: research, definition, prototyping, implementation, and iteration.
- Improve existing products with a focus on usability, accessibility (a11y), performance, and consistency.
- Engage directly with customers to uncover friction and transform findings into scalable, re-usable patterns and flows.
- Contribute to our design system in Figma and code, collaborating with engineering and contributing to both WorkDS and Radix.
- Collaborate across product design, brand design, engineering, and product to define, shape, and ship products. We work in public and share knowledge in central places.
- Tackle complex, technical problems: WorkOS is a technical product targeting engineers, so you’ll work through technical concepts and find elegant solutions with our product engineers.
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate design exploration, prototyping, and research synthesis.
Qualifications 🌟
- 7+ years designing software interfaces for complex products; developer tools or B2B SaaS experience preferred.
- Demonstrated systems thinking and mastery of common UI patterns: you know when to create, adapt, or deprecate patterns.
- Demonstrable understanding of a11y, ensuring inclusive and effective design for users across varied environments.
- Experience running qualitative and quantitative research and translating feedback into insights that influence product decisions.
- Self-motivated and proactive about fulfilling design needs across product surfaces. Designers here wear many hats and work autonomously.
- Proficiency with Figma and modern prototyping workflows; comfortable pairing with engineers and working in code-adjacent contexts.
- Bonus: technical proficiency in front-end code. Relevant languages include React, JavaScript, Typescript, HTML, and CSS. It's not a hard requirement, but we prioritize candidates with a technical background that can contribute to our design system and improve small nits in our products.
- Bonus: Experience using AI tools to accelerate design (e.g., prototyping, content generation, research synthesis) and improving internal processes.
