About the Role
A Procurement Specialist manages the acquisition of goods and services at Lightship. The Procurement Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring that Lightship procures high-quality goods and services at the most competitive prices while adhering to proper processes, policies, and regulations. The Procurement Specialist will report directly to a Global Supply Chain Manager and will execute the procurement plans according to their direction and guidance.
Responsibilities
- Supplier Management: Maintain relationships with global suppliers, ensuring consistent quality and timely deliveries.
- Product Development Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide supply chain insights, ensuring cost-effective, quick, and efficient product development.
- Supply Chain Optimization: Continuously assess and enhance supply chain efficiency, focusing on cost reduction and lead time minimization.
- Cost Management: Monitor and control supply chain costs, identifying opportunities for cost savings with suppliers.
- Process Improvement: Identify and create process improvements to maintain an efficient Supply Chain.
- Risk Management: Identify and analyze potential supply chain risks to ensure uninterrupted business operations.
- Data Analysis: Utilize data-driven insights for informed decision-making and support of strategic initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2+ years supply chain experience with strong supplier relationship experience and sourcing knowledge
- Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills
- Professional organizational skills and ability to operate in new tools and systems
- Working knowledge of ERP Systems with specific experience creating PO’s, executing Item Receipts, updating Item Inventory Cards and Vendor Information, as well as executing Inventory Adjustments with appropriate Financial details
- Experience in fostering relationships with new and current supply bases
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, engineering, or related field
- Experience in initiating and executing Logistics plans for shipments from Suppliers
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications as well as basic knowledge of manufacturing process controls and quality assurance
- Familiarity with Non-Disclosure Agreements, General Terms & Conditions, Piece Price Agreements, and other related contracts is a bonus
- Preferred Systems Experience: Netsuite ERP, Jira, Confluence, Google Suite

- Lightship compensation consists of the yearly salary above plus equity, which gives you a stake in the company.
Onsite/Hybrid Work
Hybrid roles at Lightship require onsite work from our offices Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Tuesdays and Fridays are optional work from home days, when your work will be executed more successfully from home. Speak to the hiring manager to learn more.
