Job Summary:

Independence American Insurance Company (IAIC) is seeking a Privacy Manager.  The Privacy Manager ensures the organization complies with privacy laws by conducting privacy impact assessments, audits, and maintaining privacy policies. Key responsibilities include collaborating with IT and security teams, monitoring privacy legislation, providing staff training, managing privacy rights requests, and investigating privacy breaches. The role also involves advising on privacy risks for new products, working with vendors to ensure privacy compliance, and engaging with customers to address privacy concerns. The Privacy Analyst ensures accountability and transparency in all privacy practices.

Job Location: Remote

Main Responsibilities:     

  • Conducting thorough privacy impact assessments and audits to evaluate compliance with privacy laws and regulations.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive privacy policies and procedures in alignment with legal requirements and industry best practices.
  • Collaborating with IT and security teams to ensure that data protection measures are effectively integrated into technology platforms and business processes.
  • Monitoring changes in privacy legislation and adapting company policies to maintain compliance.
  • Providing guidance and training to staff on privacy matters, including data handling and breach response protocols.
  • Assisting with the management of privacy rights requests, ensuring timely and compliant processing.
  • Investigating and responding to privacy incidents and breaches, including coordinating with legal and communication teams as necessary.
  • Advising on privacy implications during the development and launch of new products or services.
  • Collaborating with vendors and third parties to ensure their practices align with the organization's privacy standards.
  • Conducting regular privacy risk assessments and recommending mitigating strategies to management.
  • Documenting and maintaining records of all privacy-related processes and decisions for accountability and audit purposes.
  • Engaging with customers or clients to address privacy concerns and enhance transparency around data practices.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Leading strategic privacy risk assessments and mitigation efforts
  • Managing complex privacy projects and cross-functional initiatives
  • Providing expert advice on privacy laws and regulatory changes
  • Shaping and influencing the organization's privacy strategy and policies
  • Driving the integration of privacy considerations into business operations
  • Mentoring junior privacy team members and fostering a culture of privacy awareness

Certifications Preferred:

  • International Association of Privacy Professionals (CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPT, AI Governance)
  • Relevant Privacy and AI certification

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree  or equivalent in experience
  • 10 years of experience
