We’re looking for a Principal to lead our most important engagements and help shape the future of the firm. This is a senior client-facing role with broad responsibility across business development, client delivery, and intellectual leadership. Principals at Realize 2050 operate as player-coaches—they lead high-stakes consulting engagements while also mentoring teams, codifying internal IP, and opening new markets.
If you’re a strategic thinker with commercial instincts, comfortable in both regulated boardrooms and whiteboard sessions with founders, this role offers the opportunity to shape how utilities and infrastructure evolve over the coming decade.
What You’ll DoStrategy & Delivery LeadershipLead multi-workstream client engagements across utilities, startups, and government
Own senior relationships with utility execs, public sector leaders, and venture teams
Frame ambiguous problems and design analytically rigorous, action-oriented solutions
Translate technical complexity (e.g., interconnection, grid planning, DER valuation) into compelling strategy and commercial insight
Build and test commercialization pathways for new technologies and business models
Serve as a mentor and model for Engagement Managers and Associates
Lead proposal development and pitch strategy for six- and seven-figure projects
Identify white space opportunities and proactively shape new client offerings
Cultivate new client relationships and deepen existing partnerships
Represent Realize 2050 in key industry conversations—at conferences, in workshops, and during critical engagements
Develop internal frameworks, tools, and templates that codify Realize 2050’s unique approach
Author public-facing insights, white papers, and concept notes that elevate our voice in the market
Identify and shape potential venture spinouts from client engagements
Serve as an internal anchor for new practices in AI, gridtech, or infrastructure finance
10+ years of experience across strategy consulting, innovation, utilities, startup leadership, or infrastructure
Deep exposure to utility, gridtech, or climate innovation ecosystems
Track record leading complex, cross-functional projects with senior stakeholders
Exceptional communication and synthesis skills, across memos, presentations, and live facilitation
Financial fluency in energy economics, including PPA structures, resilience valuation, and capital planning
Experience with product strategy, new venture design, or market-making in regulated industries
Entrepreneurial judgment and a strong bias toward action
Experience working inside or alongside investor-owned utilities, ISO/RTOs, or regulatory agencies
A track record of launching or scaling early-stage ventures
Familiarity with AI/ML technologies, grid planning tools, or infrastructure modeling
Experience navigating public-private partnerships, grant programs, or regulatory proceedings
