eClinical Solutions helps life sciences organizations around the world accelerate clinical development initiatives with expert data services and the elluminate Clinical Data Cloud – the foundation of digital trials. Together, the elluminate platform and digital data services give clients self-service access to all their data from one centralized location plus advanced analytics that help them make smarter, faster business decisions.
You will make an impact:
We’re seeking a Principal UX Designer to help shape the future of our eClinical platform, elluminate. This role is pivotal in elevating the design maturity of the organization, leading strategic design initiatives that will impact multiple product areas while creating delightful, data-informed user experiences.
As part of our growing UX team, you’ll collaborate closely with product management, engineering, and domain experts to define and deliver intuitive workflows that support the complexity of clinical trial data management and analytics. This is not just a design execution role. You’ll help scale a platform-wide design system, embed research into product development, and mentor peers in best practices.
We're looking for someone who can connect the dots between interface behavior, data modeling, and human decision-making, and consistently advocate for clarity and usability at every step.
Your day to day:
- End-to-End UX Design: Lead the design of key product experiences across elluminate—from early discovery through detailed interaction design.
- UX Strategy & Systems Thinking: Help evolve our platform design system and UX standards. Guide the creation of scalable components and patterns that improve product cohesion.
- Interaction Design Leadership: Lead the design of intuitive task flows, page layouts, and navigation structures that help users confidently interact with the platform’s complex data and clinical workflows.
- Prototyping: Develop high-fidelity interactive prototypes to demonstrate the functionality and interaction patterns of the proposed designs.
- Detailed Design Documentation: Produce detailed design specifications, including user interface components, interaction patterns, and design guidelines, to guide the development process.
- Design Thinking: Apply design thinking principles to understand user needs, identify opportunities, and conceptualize innovative solutions that address complex problems in the clinical trials industry.
- User Research & Validation: Advocate for research when the team works with limited user insight or makes assumption-heavy decisions. While you’ll often have a research partner, you should be comfortable shaping research questions, participating in sessions, and translating insights into actionable design guidance. Help reinforce a culture of evidence-based decision-making across the product team.
- Collaborative Product Development: Partner with PMs and engineers to define requirements, refine scope, and ensure that designs balance user needs, technical constraints, and business goals.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with development and QA teams to ensure the accurate implementation of designs, conducting quality assurance checks to maintain design integrity throughout the development lifecycle.
- Mentorship & Influence: Act as a design thought partner to peers and stakeholders. Contribute to the growth of our UX team and culture by mentoring junior designers and participating in design critiques.
- Stay current with UX industry trends, best practices, and emerging methods, and share knowledge and insights with the team.
Take the first step towards your dream career. Here is what we are looking for in this role.
