Job Description:

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Principal System Administrator to join our IT team. The Principal System Administrator will be responsible for the administration, configuration, backup and maintenance of cloud-based infrastructure. This role will be responsible for the administration, configuration and management of the Windows Server and email platform running in a public cloud infrastructure (Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure M365 Services)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to modernize and optimize IT infrastructure
  • Oversee system design, configuration, deployment, and monitoring of server and storage systems.
  • Ensure robust cybersecurity practices are integrated into all system administration processes.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to assess system needs and recommend solutions aligned with business goals.
  • Plans, coordinates, installs & upgrades server patches and supporting tools.
  • Manages / Maintains Windows Server operating systems running on cloud-based infrastructure
  • Manages / Maintains Email Messaging platform running on cloud-based infrastructure
  • Establishes and executes on performance management requirements.
  • Delivers server availability and recoverability according to SLA.
  • Works with Information Protection to implement and enforces security policies and act on violations.
  • Monitors industry trends and best practices and implements where beneficial.
  • Works with application development teams on the use of server resources contributing to high-quality, long-term solutions.
  • Complies with all company and site policies and procedures.
  • Remains current in profession and industry trends.
  • Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Technical Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge and administration of Windows server environments
  • Thorough knowledge and experience managing server infrastructure on public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, M365 Suite)
  • Thorough Knowledge of virtualization platforms (Vmware Cloud on AWS, Hyper-V running in Azure)
  • Thorough Knowledge of Exchange Online running in Azure
  • Thorough Knowledge of the Microsoft M365 suite
  • Thorough Knowledge of Enterprise backup solutions (Veeam, VCDR)
  • Networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP)
  • Working knowledge of Storage technologies (SAN/NAS)
  • Disaster recovery and business continuity planning
  • Monitoring tool experience and administration running on AWS / Azure in a Windows environment
  • Cloud migration and hybrid infrastructure experience (Vmware to EC2 or Vmware to Azure)
  • Thorough Knowledge of Active Directory / Entra ID
  • In depth knowledge of DHCP, WINS, DNS and TCP/IP
  • Detailed knowledge of user administration, network administration, storage and security components
  • Knowledge of and Administration of Mobile Devices and MDM Solutions
  • Strong organizational skills applied across multiple concurrent projects
  • Highly motivated, self-starter that can work proactively with minimal supervision and drive innovation and change
  • Ability to work with others in a collaborative team environment

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in systems administration or infrastructure engineering.
  • Expertise in managing Windows and Linux environments at scale.
  • Proven experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Strong understanding of networking, storage, security protocols, and enterprise system monitoring.

Base Salary Range - $160,000-$185,000
