Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal / Sr. Prin. Mission Control Room Eng to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test and Evaluation organization. This role will be located in Palmdale, CA.

As an Instrumentation Mission Control Room (MCR) Engineer 3/4 you’ll be part of the design, development, integration, configuration and test of a real-time, hardware in the loop, and data acquisition systems (DAS). Tasking will include research, design, development, and testing of DAS processing hardware, computer systems, sensors, and electrical components. Designs new or modifies existing products, develops technical specifications for production, analyzes hardware configuration and processing solutions, and tests hardware conformance to specifications and real time MCR configuration files using Interactive Analysis and Display System (IADS) software suite.

This position will require occasional shift work, overtime and travel.

Basic Qualifications:

Both Levels Require

  • DoD Secret clearance in scope within the last 5 years, and capable of obtaining and maintaining special program access and Top-Secret clearances.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access.
  • Excellent organizational and communications skills.
  • Knowledge of/Familiarity with using Curtiss-Wright IADS software suite and MCR operations.
  • Basic understanding of troubleshooting to identify and assist in determine the root cause.
  • Assist with creating, editing and executing procedures.
  • Assist in data acquisition and data collection.
  • Experience with Microsoft Product family and AutoCAD.
  • Basic understanding of strain gages, accelerometers, pressure transducers and other commonly used instrumentation sensors.

Level 3 (Principal)

  • Bachelor's degree within a science, technical, engineering or mathematics (STEM) discipline with 5 years of engineering experience, Masters degree within a science, technical, engineering or mathematics (STEM) discipline with 3 years of experience, PhD within a science, technical, engineering or mathematics (STEM) discipline with 0 years of engineering experience, or 9 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

Level 4 (Sr. Principal)

  • Bachelor's degree within a science, technical, engineering or mathematics (STEM) discipline with 9 years of engineering experience, Masters degree within a science, technical, engineering or mathematics (STEM) discipline with 7 years of experience, PhD within a science, technical, engineering or mathematics (STEM) discipline with 4 years of engineering experience or 13 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in Flight Test or Lab Test environments.
  • Experience in electronics troubleshooting techniques and tools, including multi-meters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and/or other common lab test equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of data bus architecture MIL-STD-1553, IEE-1394, ARINC-429, RS232 and RS422.
  • Experience using Curtiss-Wright IADS software suite and MCR operations.
  • Experience post-test processing data from an IRIG-106 CH10 recording.
  • Active Special Program Access
  • Active Security+ Certification and/or other DoD 8570 certification
  • Knowledge of network and IT hardware and/or software systems.
  • Experience with troubleshooting malfunctioning network systems.
  • Perform operating system maintenance and updates for Windows.

Salary Range: $97,500.00 - $146,300.00Salary Range 2: $120,900.00 - $181,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
