About Port

At Port.io, we are building an open and flexible Agentic SDLC Platform for modern engineering organizations. Following our recent $100M Series C funding round, we are in a phase of rapid hypergrowth with strong enterprise momentum.

We act as the central nervous system for engineering, enabling platform teams to unify their stack and expose it as a governed layer through golden paths for developers and AI agents. By combining rich engineering context, workflows, and actions, we help organizations transition from manual processes to autonomous, AI-assisted engineering workflows - while maintaining control and accountability.

As a product-led company, we believe in building world-class platforms that fundamentally shape how modern engineering organizations operate.

About the Role

This is a rare, high-leverage role at the intersection of deep technical craft and strategic platform thinking. As Port's Principal Software Architect, you will own the technical vision for our foundational infrastructure and shape how engineering works across every team in R&D.

You won't be embedded in a single product team — you'll operate across the entire R&D organization, tackling the hardest architectural challenges: data modeling at scale, integration system design, enterprise readiness, performance, and cost efficiency. You'll report directly to the VP of R&D and serve as a technical force-multiplier for our directors and team leads.

If you want to architect systems that serve thousands of engineering organizations — and leave fingerprints on every layer of a fast-scaling SaaS platform - this role is for you.

What You'll Do

System Design & Scaling

  • Architect robust, high-performance, and scalable systems across our entire platform.
  • Lead the design of resilient, performant, and maintainable core infrastructure as we evolve our SaaS ecosystem.
  • Design a more robust, performant, and generic integration layer — making our 3rd-party integrations more scalable, easier to build, and higher quality.
  • Architect high-throughput data and messaging pipelines to support robust, real-time data ingestion and event-driven architectures.

Data Modeling & Analytics

  • Redesign and optimize our data modeling layer — including hierarchies, entity types, and relationships — to improve flexibility and scale.
  • Architect a comprehensive data analytics pipeline capable of handling large-scale data source processing and aggregated metric calculations.
  • Design effective engineering metrics delivery pipelines — enabling framework-level measurement of developer productivity and platform health.

Enterprise Readiness & Security

  • Drive technical planning, tracking, and execution of cross-functional enterprise initiatives including FedRAMP compliance and SSDLC practices.
  • Design and implement robust security frameworks aligned with enterprise customer requirements.

Reliability & Quality

  • Conduct deep-dive root cause analyses on production incidents and drive structural improvements to system reliability.
  • Design and implement a comprehensive end-to-end load and performance testing ecosystem.

FinOps & Cost Architecture

  • Analyze cloud infrastructure spend and identify architectural changes that optimize cost without compromising performance.
  • Challenge existing storage and infrastructure decisions — asking the right questions about where data lives, why, and at what cost.

Technology Strategy & Mentorship

  • Periodically review and recommend technologies, SDKs, and platforms to support Port's evolving architectural standards.
  • Mentor and uplevel technical leads across R&D teams, raising the bar for engineering quality and architectural thinking.
  • Push for the adoption of AI-SDLC practices within R&D to improve engineering velocity.
  • Participate in senior technical hiring to help Port attract world-class engineers.
  • Experience: 10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 5 years in architect / staff / principal roles.
  • Enterprise SaaS track record: Proven experience architecting and scaling enterprise-grade, multi-tenant B2B cloud SaaS services.
  • Polyglot engineering: Deep software development experience across multiple languages — strong proficiency in Node.js/TypeScript, Go, Python, and React.
  • Data & streaming ecosystems: Extensive experience with diverse database systems (SQL and NoSQL) and event-driven / message-streaming architectures (Kafka, Kinesis, SQS, etc.).
  • Cloud & platform engineering: Strong background in multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure), modern DevOps practices, and Platform Engineering principles.
  • AI Native: Deeply comfortable building with AI-first principles, with a mindset for leveraging AI in both the product architecture and the development process.
  • AI-SDLC experience: Hands-on use of AI tooling to optimize internal software development lifecycle processes.
  • Influence without authority: Proven ability to drive technical direction, foster cross-functional collaboration, and ensure alignment across multiple teams without direct management authority.
  • Communication: Fluent Hebrew and English.

Nice to Have

  • Platform engineering at scale: experience creating internal developer platform / agentic SDLC solutions for large R&D organizations.
  • Big data expertise: hands-on experience with data lakes, data warehouses, analytics pipelines, BI tools, and CDC mechanisms.
  • AI product development: experience building production-grade AI features, including agentic systems and LLM-based workflows.

Why Port

  • Work on real problems at scale — Port serves enterprise engineering organizations with thousands of developers.
  • Architectural ownership — no committee, no bureaucracy. Your decisions shape the platform.
  • Hyper-growth moment — $100M Series C, strong enterprise pipeline, and a category we're actively defining.
  • Brilliant team — collaborate with world-class engineers and product leaders who care deeply about craft.
