Principal Product Manager, ApplicationsRole Overview

This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the vision, strategy, and execution for Onebrief’s core application. You will oversee and coordinate our persona-based teams (Commander, Collaborator, and Creator), as well as any emerging front-end focused teams, ensuring seamless user experiences, coherent workflows, and consistent product quality across the entire application layer. Candidates who have lived in both worlds – the military environment and high-scale collaboration SaaS (e.g., Google Docs, Microsoft 365/Teams/Loop, Atlassian Confluence, Figma, Miro)-will be especially competitive. This role requires a strong blend of strategic leadership, cross-team orchestration, and hands-on product management expertise, with a focus on high-impact outcomes for diverse end-users in complex, high-stakes environments.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership & Vision
  • Define, communicate, and align team to a unified product vision and strategy for all application teams, aligning their roadmaps to company-level objectives and user needs

  • Set and drive cross-team priorities, ensuring that Commander, Collaborator, and Creator products deliver a seamless, integrated experience for all user personas

  • Partner with executive leadership, platform and AI teams, and other stakeholders to shape the long-term direction of application products, balancing near-term delivery with long-term innovation

Cross-Team Coordination & Oversight
  • Lead the coordination of strategic initiatives, roadmap planning, and execution across application teams, identifying and resolving cross-team dependencies and bottlenecks

  • Ensure clean integration of application features with shared platform services (e.g., data models, UI libraries, real-time sync), with clear interfaces and reuse of core components

  • Establish and run mechanisms for alignment, such as product councils, shared planning rituals, and transparent decision-making frameworks

Product Excellence & Execution
  • Set high standards for UX, quality, reliability, and performance across all application surfaces

  • Use user research, analytics, and feedback loops to inform priorities, guide iteration, and measure impact

  • Ensure that each application team (Commander, Collaborator, Creator) delivers on its charter:

    • Commander: High-fidelity, actionable brief outputs and approval flows tailored for senior decision-makers

    • Creator: Powerful, flexible tools for authoring complex plans and content, enabling rapid iteration and high-quality outputs

    • Collaborator: Robust systems for feedback, tasking, comments, permissions, and provenance, supporting safe and efficient multi-user collaboration

Stakeholder Engagement
  • Champion the voice of the user, grounded in a deep understanding of customer workflows and mission-critical needs

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for application-layer product strategy, representing application team needs and priorities to executive leadership and the broader organization

  • Build strong partnerships with engineering, design, customer success, and go-to-market teams to ensure successful delivery and adoption

Talent Development & Team Leadership
  • Lead and mentor application Product Managers, providing coaching, context, and support to enable high performance and growth

  • Help shape the application product management organization, contributing to hiring, onboarding, and best practices for distributed, cross-functional teams

Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in product management, including significant leadership of multiple product teams or large-scale, cross-functional initiatives

  • Experience building or operating at-scale collaborative productivity platforms (e.g., Google Docs, Microsoft 365/Teams, Atlassian, Slack, Figma, Miro, Notion, Dropbox, Coda, Airtable, Smartsheet, etc.)

  • Prior experience in defense, government, or other regulated industries where trust, security, and reliability are paramount

  • Deep understanding of modern product development practices, including user-centered design and data-driven decision-making

  • Track record of strategic leadership: defining vision, setting priorities, and driving alignment across multiple teams

  • Demonstrated success shipping and scaling complex B2B/SaaS products

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to translate complex product and technical concepts to diverse audiences

  • Experience working with platform teams and shared services, ensuring robust interfaces and minimizing duplication of effort

  • High degree of ownership, intellectual honesty, and a bias for action; thrives in ambiguity and drives clarity and results

  • U.S. citizenship and ability to work with sensitive or classified customer data
