Description

AgencyBloc is a leading provider of agency management solutions built specifically for life and health insurance agencies. Our platform helps agencies streamline operations, strengthen client relationships, and drive growth through powerful CRM, commission processing, and marketing automation tools. We value innovation, collaboration, and making a meaningful impact in the industries we serve and we take pride in fostering a culture that genuinely cares about our customers, our work, and each other.

Requirements

Summary:

AgencyBloc is looking for a UX Designer to bring deep customer understanding to life through intuitive, well-crafted product experiences. This role is critical to ensuring that what we build is not only functionally right — but simple, coherent, and easy to use for health and benefits agencies.

This person will own and execute the design layers that make products truly work — rolling up their sleeves to do the hands-on design work that takes a product from concept to something Technology can build with confidence. The role goes well beyond visual polish to shape how customers think about, feel, and move through the product. Working closely with our UX Strategist & Researcher, Product Management team, and Technology team, you’ll actively shape the problem, direction, and solution, then translate customer understanding and product strategy into designs that resolve ambiguity, ensure those delight customers, answer engineering's questions before they're asked, and set a consistent standard for what great UX looks like at AgencyBloc.

Ultimately, this role ensures that AgencyBloc products are deeply usable, visually cohesive, and grounded in a genuine understanding of how our customers work.

Responsibilities:

UX Design

  • Lead and execute end-to-end design across the full UX spectrum — doing the hands-on work across conceptual models, information architecture, and interaction design — going well beyond how something looks to define how it works.
  • Define how users navigate, interact with, and mentally model the product — applying deep interaction design principles to create experiences that feel natural and effortless
  • Take vision and definition from Product and UX and make it buildable and coherent — resolving ambiguity, surfacing gaps, and producing designs that answer most of Technology's questions before they're asked
  • Define what "good UX and UI" looks like at AgencyBloc — establishing design patterns and interaction guidelines that keep the product feeling consistent and unified as it grows
  • Serve as the design conscience for the organization — the person Product Managers and engineers turn to when they need to know if something is right
  • Bring a thoughtful, structured approach to design work — moving intentionally from customer understanding through concept, iteration, and validation — and use AI tools deliberately to accelerate the process without losing sight of what customers actually need

Customer Driven

  • Develop and maintain a genuine, ongoing understanding of how AgencyBloc customers think, work, and experience the product — bringing that understanding early and often into the design process to guide every design decision from concept through delivery
  • Partner with the UX Strategist & Researcher to engage customers at every fidelity level — from rough concepts and sketches through high-fidelity prototypes — and stay connected to findings, customer interviews, and usability insights
  • Build low to high fidelity prototypes that test real understanding and interaction, not just communicate ideas to stakeholders
  • Incorporate customer learnings continuously — treating feedback as an ongoing input to design, not a final review step

Collaborative by Design

  • Work in close partnership with Product Managers, the UX Strategist & Researcher, Technology, and cross-functional partners — treating design as a team sport where the best outcomes come from working together early and often
  • With Product Management, engage deeply in product discovery and definition to understand not just what is being built, but why and to design accordingly
  • With Technology, help inform shared components and what the front-end design standard should be — without necessarily owning the CSS/HTML themselves
  • Participate actively in Discovery, Planning, and Development phases — not just as a design resource, but as a full contributor to product decisions, with the authority to raise concerns, challenge direction, and advocate for the customer experience when the design isn't right
  • Communicate design decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, building alignment and confidence across the team
  • Serve as the UX design decision-maker for readiness — determining whether an experience is ready for development and validating that what ships matches the intended experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Customer-Centered Designer: Genuine curiosity about how users think and work. Designs from a deep understanding of the customer's world — not just the screen — and exercises exceptional judgement turning that understanding into design decisions that are customer-centered and practical. Comfortable engaging directly with customers to test and learn.
  • Conceptual & Interaction Design Depth: Strong command of the UX design spectrum from mental models and conceptual design through conceptual design, information architecture, and interaction design. Knows the difference between how something looks and how it works and is relentless about clarity, simplicity, and ease of use—especially for small businesses.
  • AI-Experience Designer: Comfortable designing product experiences that incorporate AI-enabled features and understanding the unique UX challenges AI presents. Approaches AI features with the same customer-centered rigor as any other part of the product.
  • Systems Thinker: Understands how individual design decisions compound across a product. Cares about consistency, scalability, and the long-term integrity of the design system. Can think at the component level and the product level simultaneously.
  • Cross-Functional Collaborator: Builds strong working relationships across Product, UX, Technology, and Client Experience. Skilled at influencing without authority through facilitation, storytelling, and clarity. An active contributor to shaping the problem and solution direction — partnering with Product and UX to define what needs to be solved, not just how to solve it.
  • Technology Collaborator: Comfortable working closely with architects and engineers. Understands enough about front-end implementation to have meaningful conversations about feasibility, component design, and design system maintenance — without owning the code.
  • Deliberate AI User: Uses AI tools intentionally as part of a structured design process — to accelerate concept generation, prototype iteration, and design exploration — while keeping customer understanding at the center of every decision.
  • Cultural Fit: Thrives in a collaborative, people-centered, fast-moving remote environment. Comfortable with ambiguity and change. Brings curiosity, humility, and a learning mindset to the work.

Skills/Education/Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in UX or product design in a SaaS or technology-driven environment
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating depth across conceptual design, information architecture, interaction design, and visual design
  • Excellent working knowledge of user experience design principles and modern product development practices.
  • Proficiency in Figma or equivalent design tooling
  • Experience contributing to or owning a design system
  • Comfort working with engineers on front-end design standards and component decisions
  • Experience working in agile or iterative product development environments.
  • Excellent communication skills — able to explain design decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; relevant experience considered in lieu of degree
  • Some travel may be required for in-field customer research.
