As a Principal Mission Architect Engineer located in Colorado Springs, CO, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. This position is 100% on site and does not support remote work.    

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Your mission, should you choose to accept:

  • Participate in programmatic reviews and technical exchange meetings with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in GSSE and simulator technical discussions and develop training plans to support OTTI efforts, etc.
  • Provide occasional support for crew training exercises (“train like you fly”)
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to report weekly metrics, execution status, schedule reviews, etc.
  • Support feasibility and risk reduction studies

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree with 5 years experience or Masters Degree with 3 years experience or PhD and 1 year experience
  • Support feasibility and risk reduction studies
  • Requires an active U.S. Government Top-Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI approval/access
  • Experience with development of internal block diagrams (IBDs) and data-flow diagrams to document system components
  • Experience with requirements decomposition
  • Experience with different forms of space ops C2 and TacC2 simulation/training environments
  • Strong problem-solving abilities; capable of working independently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience with mission planning and/or orbital analyst responsibilities and/or processes focusing on RPO
  • Modelling and simulation tools (e.g. space-vehicle simulators)
  • Familiarity with mission applications dealing with command and control, mission planning, visualization, and/or astrodynamics
  • Prior experience working with external organization or vendors on behalf of a team or company
  • Experience in Python and/or MATLAB. C or C++ would be preferred
  • Experience with Open Sim standards (Distributed Interactive Simulation, High-Level Architecture, or similar)

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
