Department:

The Non-Volatile Engineering Group (NVEG), a division within the Technology and Products Group (TPG), is dedicated to advancing non-volatile memory technologies like NAND. Our primary mission is to innovate and develop groundbreaking solutions that improve the performance and reliability of non-volatile memory products.

Job Description:

Participate as a team member and work effectively to develop SSD firmware. Demonstrate proficiency in coding skills, failure analysis, and tools that support these activities. Validate customer requirements and perform failure analysis on FW related issues. Develop structured source code targeting the embedded environment associated with state-of-the-art memory. Perform design verification using various verification methods, including simulation and product testing. Focus on firmware quality in the system and the target application. Participate in SCRUM/Agile processes and distributed code reviews. Develop new test tools and methods. Follow specific processes/procedures/workflows. Demonstrate the practical analysis of functional or performance issues with the firmware and hardware in test environments or target host systems.

Responsibilities:

  • 10 Years in Embedded Firmware - Storage/SSD would be a strong plus.
  • 7 years of experience with firmware design and debugging using assembly and C programming.
  • 7 years of knowledge with NAND flash, SSD flash translation layer, wear leveling, garbage collection.
  • Deep knowledge and working experience in PCIe SSD firmware development
  • Deep expertise and working experience of NVMe protocol
  • Deep understanding of the SSD end-to-end IO path
  • Knowledge of configuring and debugging issues from the usage of register settings of ASICs in an SoC and embedded firmware dev environment
  • 10 years of experience in problem recreations and trapping, and in identifying performance-critical algorithms for optimizations.
  • 10 years’ experience with ARM or equivalent microprocessor development tools and IDE
  • Experience in firmware design and documentation, ability to scope and estimate development effort.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic/bus analyzers (would be suitable to have).
  • Perform as a tech lead to solve any design and implementation challenges.

Education Qualifications:

  • BS or MS (Preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering required

Preferred Skills:

  • 8+ years of strong hands-on experience working on firmware development using C/C++ and a good understanding of scripting languages, including Python/ Perl. 
  • Familiar with a Linux environment
  • 8+ years of knowledge with storage interfaces such as PCIe, SMBus, VDM, etc.
  • 5+ years of NVMe protocol experience
  • 10 years of experience providing engineering test solutions (HW & SW) for Product Development for NAND/System characterization and Silicon debug capabilities

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$153,000.00 - $300,500.00

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.  The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations.  Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.  The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs.  Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Additional compensation may include benefits, discretionary bonuses and equity.
