Summary of Responsibilities:
The Principal Web Developer manages the design, development, and maintenance of SMPA’s web environment. This position oversees web application developers to ensure websites are:
- Aligned to business objectives
- Built using standards and common mainstream languages
- Finalized meeting all milestones and goals
- Developed according to budget guidelines
Essential Functions Required for Job
- Work with the Commercial and Global Business teams to understand business requirements for systems, tools and infrastructure in order to execute new website technologies and projects to meet those needs; develops project timelines and deliverables within the defined budget, managing multiple priorities and shifting timelines.
- Leads internal, cross-functional teams; seen as an expert in the Digital space.
- Manages client expectations effectively; adheres to budget and timeline; holding resources accountable.
- Own the front and back end architecture of all Sunovion web applications; understands complex database concepts as well as the implications of different database designs.
- Seeks and participates in professional/personal development opportunities above and beyond required training.
- Lead development processes and project resources; proficient in all the latest web technologies and is able to design, create reusable objects, implement, and incorporate industry best practices into all projects.
- Analyze and improve reliability, security, and performance of all web technology applications, databases and infrastructure.
- Ensure Web applications are compliant with external and internal brand and security standards.
- Supports and maintains existing custom-built web applications on the Corporate Intranet using a variety of technologies including CFMX, Java, JSP, advanced CSS, Jython, Python, JQuery, AJAX, Node, and Vue.

- Must have experience with Web Technologies, CFMX, XML, Java, JSP, advanced CSS, Jython, Python. Postgres, PHP, Java, SQL, mySQL
- Must be familiar with HTML5, CSS3, Adobe CQ, and open frameworks such as Bootstrap, Knockout, and Angular, Node, Vue, and Contentful.
- Experience with Linux operating system and utilities
- Experience with Apache
- Experience with source control and versioning
- Experience with software documentation
- Familiar with Web Security, Networking; Protocols and Load Balancing
- Familiar with the application development life cycle
- Experience with high traffic sites.
- Experience with web services, SOA framework, and SAAS required
- Experience with cross platform and browser version compatibility
- Familiar with Commercial Application Framework, such as Tomcat, WebLogic WebSphere
Other requirements:
High degree of complexity. Errors can cause substantial delay, expense, and disruption of significant portions of the company's operations. Independent action and decision-making are required. Must be highly organized and have strong orientation towards details. Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally is key for success.
The base salary range for this role is $107,920 to $134,900. Base salary is part of our total rewards package which also includes the opportunity for merit-based salary increases, short incentive plan participation, eligibility for our 401(k) plan, medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances and leaves provided in line with your work state. Our robust time-off policy includes flexible paid time off, 11 paid holidays plus additional time off for a shut-down period during the last week of December, 80 hours of paid sick time upon hire and each year thereafter. Total compensation, including base salary to be offered, will depend on elements unique to each candidate, including candidate experience, skills, education and other factors permitted by law.
