The Principal Engineer will design and implement automated testing solutions for network performance, analyze test results, and develop visualizations of data.
This role requires the ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.
Responsible for designing, implementing and executing flexible and maintainable automated test solutions for a lab environment that incorporates broadband access devices including: Distributed Access Architecture components, Passive Optical Network components, servers, and test tools.
Responsible for devising, documenting, executing and automating throughput, latency, and jitter performance tests.
Responsible for assessing test data in terms of performance and quality of experience relative to various algorithms and data transport architectures and creating visualizations of the results.

$110,800.00 and $196,400.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. How You'll Make an Impact
- Partner with system architects and engineers to conceptualize design and implement a robust automated testing solution.
- Assist in continued growth and development of the lab environment.
- Develop algorithms and code to collect, analyze, and visualize data to identify patterns and trends.
- Partner with system architects and engineers to develop network performance test plans.
- Set-up and configure test equipment to conduct network performance measurements.
- Conduct and complete a variety of network performance test plans.
- Assess performance measurement results and make recommendations to improve network performance.
- Document test results, prepare presentations, and present results and recommendations to management.
- Knows, understands and follows company policies.
- Performs other duties as requested by manager.

What You'll Bring to Spectrum
Required Qualifications
Education
- Master's or bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or related work experience
Experience
- 5+ years engineering work experience
- 5+ years project management work experience
Skills
- Must be self-motivated and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to independently and collaboratively conceptualize, design and develop software designed to automate testing across multiple platforms, devices, and operating systems.
- Must be able to work as a team member in a group environment.
- Must be able to work independently to run and complete test plans with a sense of urgency and efficiency.
- Must have software development experience on different platforms/tools (e.g. Linux, Windows, MacOS, Python, JavaScript, shell scripting).
- Must have experience designing microservices architectures.
- Must have experience designing user interfaces.
- Must have experience providing visualizations of data.
- Must have knowledge of code management systems and processes, including Git.
Preferred Qualifications
Education
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
- Industry and vendor specific certifications and training preferred (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)
