ABOUT THE ROLE:
As a Principal DevOps Engineer at Agero, you'll be a key leader in our cloud environment, responsible for the technologies, infrastructure as code, and automation that power our operations. You'll collaborate with our engineering, product, and architecture teams to ensure our solutions are designed and deployed with the highest standards for availability, performance, observability, and security.
You'll take the lead on technology selection and implementation best practices, guiding the DevOps team and contributing to strategic initiatives across the organization. You'll also be on the front lines of innovation, continuously learning about the AWS platform and emerging DevOps technologies. Your expertise in evaluating, testing, and implementing new features will be crucial to our long-term success.
KEY OUTCOMES:
- AWS Cloud Environment Management: Maintain secure and governed cloud environments while ensuring compliance with licensing and support lifecycles.
- Automation & CI/CD: Drive continuous improvement in DevOps pipelines, supporting continuous integration and deployment for both software and internal team automation.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and deploy repeatable, resilient, and recoverable infrastructure solutions using IaC principles.
- Architectural Guidance: Provide architectural and design inputs for various services, leveraging well-architected frameworks from cloud providers.
- Mentorship & Collaboration: Mentor junior team members and guide engineering teams on DevOps best practices. Collaborate with Architecture, Engineering, Product, and Security teams on key initiatives.
- Monitoring & Support: Automate system monitoring and provide regular on-call support for complex web-based applications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience required; Master’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent preferred; Technical certifications for AWS or Linux/Unix is a plus.
EXPERIENCE:
- 7+ years of experience in a DevOps or SRE role, with a strong focus on supporting production-critical workloads on Amazon Web Services (AWS) for at least 5 of those years.
- Proven expertise in AWS: A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience with services like IAM, EC2, ECS, Lambda, S3, and VPC, used to design and manage scalable cloud infrastructure.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Mastery: At least 7 years proven expertise in Infrastructure as Code. You will have a track record of using tools like Terraform Cloud to architect and provision secure, scalable cloud environments by developing reusable modules from the ground up.
CI/CD and Automation:
- 5+ years of experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools like CircleCI or GitHub Actions.
- 7+ years of extensive scripting proficiency in languages like Ruby and Bash.
- 7+ years of strong experience with automated testing framework integration within CI/CD pipelines.
Observability & Change Management:
- 7+ years of hands-on experience implementing and managing monitoring and logging solutions with platforms such as Datadog.
- 7+ years of expert-level experience with change management in a DevOps environment, including automated rollback strategies and refined change control processes.
Key Competencies and Qualifications
- Technical & Business Acumen: A strong foundation in enterprise solution architecture and cloud deployment models, coupled with an understanding of how these technical decisions impact business outcomes.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Deep knowledge of Docker and proficiency with IaC tools like Terraform Cloud to automate and manage our cloud infrastructure.
- Leadership and Collaboration: Serve as a collaborative leader who excels at teamwork, provides excellent internal customer service, and uses strong verbal and written communication to inform, align, and influence.
- Strategic Planning & Execution: Ability to plan, make sound decisions, and focus on results to deliver quality applications on time.
- Innovation Mindset: A continuous drive to identify problems, recommend innovative solutions, and foster a culture of continuous improvement across the organization.

The base salary range presented represents the anticipated low and high end salary range for new hires in this position. Your final base salary will be determined based on factors such as work location, experience, job related skills, and relevant training and education.
