Principal Data Architect - Salesforce CRM
Role Definition:
Business Architect with a strong background in Salesforce, business process mapping, solution design, and business relationship management. This role will work closely with senior business and IT leaders to align strategic objectives with business processes and technology capabilities, focusing on delivering impactful solutions in the heavy equipment and mining industry.
The ideal candidate combines business acumen with technical understanding, excels at building relationships, and can translate complex business needs into actionable architecture and solutions.
What You Will Do:
  • Partner with business and IT stakeholders to define, document, and align business strategies, capabilities, and processes with technology roadmaps.

  • Lead and facilitate business process mapping workshops to document current state and design future state processes, with a focus on Salesforce Lead-to-Cash and Service processes.

  • Design and document holistic business and solution architectures that meet strategic objectives and operational needs.

  • Develop business capability models, value streams, and process flows aligned to TOGAF and/or Business Relationship Management (BRM) principles.

  • Serve as an advisor and relationship manager for key business stakeholders, ensuring that their requirements are thoroughly understood and integrated into IT strategy and solution development.

  • Collaborate with project and program managers to ensure business architecture deliverables are integrated into project plans and delivery timelines.

  • Evaluate and recommend Salesforce configurations and enhancements, ensuring alignment with business goals and architectural standards.

  • Define and maintain Salesforce platform architecture, ensuring consistency, scalability, and alignment with enterprise standards.

  • Guide solution architecture and ensure best practices are followed in configuration, customization, and integration.

  • Evaluate and recommend new Salesforce features, AppExchange solutions, and technologies to meet evolving business needs.

  • Lead business process analysis and optimization initiatives using Salesforce capabilities to drive efficiency and innovation.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to reimagine customer and employee experiences using Salesforce as a core enabler.

  • Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy standards within the Salesforce ecosystem.

  • Participate in architecture governance boards and contribute to enterprise architecture practices and frameworks.

  • Mentor and provide guidance on business analysis, business architecture, and solution design best practices across the organization.

  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in business architecture, Salesforce ecosystems, and the heavy equipment/mining industry.

What You Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • 8-10 years of professional experience in business architecture, business analysis, or solution architecture roles.

  • Salesforce certifications such as Salesforce Certified Business Architect, Application Architect, or System Architect highly preferred

  • Strong expertise in Salesforce (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and/or Field Service), including process mapping and solution design.

  • Proven experience mapping and optimizing complex business processes and defining business capability models.

  • Excellent business relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience facilitating workshops and building consensus.

  • Understanding of IT solution delivery lifecycle, including project/program management principles.

  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF preferred) and ability to develop artifacts aligned to such frameworks.

  • Experience working in or supporting industries such as heavy equipment, mining, construction, or manufacturing is preferred.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts in business terms.

Top Candidates Will Have:
  • TOGAF® Certification

  • Business Relationship Management Professional (BRMP®) or Certified Business Relationship Manager (CBRM®)

  • Project Management Professional (PMP®) or similar certification is a plus.

  • Salesforce certifications (Administrator, Advanced Administrator, Platform App Builder, or Architect certifications) are highly desirable.

  • Platform Architecture: Knowledge of technologies and methods to design processing mechanisms and roadmaps to execute business application systems; ability to design these roadmaps and deploy supportive interfaces for end users to access related systems, in accordance with standards and processes.

  • Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.

  • Target Architecture: Knowledge of target architecture; ability to develop the IT blueprint and roadmap while aligning the architecture and processes with business strategies and objectives.

Summary Pay Range:
$144,960.00 - $235,440.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
