Job Responsibilities
- Lead the design and architecture of highly available, scalable, and secure cloud solutions across various cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) to meet GE Healthcare's evolving business needs.
- Develop and evangelize cloud architecture standards, patterns, and best practices, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and security policies.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, guiding them in the implementation of cloud-native solutions, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) principles.
- Define application modernization and migration strategies (e.g., rehost, replatform, refactor) aligned to business outcomes, reliability targets, and regulatory constraints.
- Evaluate new cloud technologies, services, and tools, making recommendations for their adoption to improve performance, cost-efficiency, and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with product management, security, operations, and development teams to translate business requirements into robust and innovative cloud architectures.
- Oversee the performance, cost optimization, and security posture of cloud environments, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues.
- Drive the migration of on-premise applications and data to cloud platforms, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum benefit.
- Establish and enforce governance frameworks for cloud resource provisioning, access management, and cost control.
- Document architectural designs, technical specifications, and operational procedures for cloud solutions.
- Own the current-state to future-state architecture roadmap for cloud and hybrid-cloud platforms, defining target-state architecture, phased transition plans, and modernization strategies aligned to business priorities, clinical workflows, reliability goals, and regulatory constraints.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
- 8+ years of progressive experience in IT with at least 5 years dedicated to cloud architecture and engineering roles.
- Extensive hands-on experience designing and implementing complex solutions on at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP), with strong proficiency in another.
- Deep understanding of cloud computing concepts, including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, serverless architectures, microservices, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and data storage solutions.
- Proven expertise in infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong knowledge of networking principles, security best practices, and compliance requirements in cloud environments.
- Experience with hybrid cloud deployments and strategies.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related STEM field.
- 11+ years of software engineering experience, including 8+ years in cloud architecture roles.
- 7+ years experience in regulated healthcare and/or medical device software development.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (or equivalent).
- Experience delivering Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) solutions and working within medical device quality systems.
- Working knowledge of healthcare/medical device Quality Management Systems and associated documentation practices.
- Familiarity with clinical workflows, Enterprise Imaging workflows, and data stewardship expectations in healthcare environments.
- Experience with multi-cloud (Azure/GCP) is a plus, particularly in hybrid-cloud deployment models.
