Principal PLM Architect
Location: Remote US Only.
Travel: Up to 15%
About the Role
As a Principal PLM Architect, you will lead strategic engagements focused on the implementation and transformation of PLM systems, with a strong emphasis on PTC Windchill environments. You will serve as a trusted advisor to clients and partners, guiding them through complex technical landscapes and ensuring successful delivery of PLM solutions aligned with business goals.
This role blends deep technical expertise with leadership, consulting, and solution architecture. You will collaborate across PTC’s ecosystem—including R&D, PLM Segment, SaaS BDMs, and implementation partners—to design, validate, and deploy scalable PLM architectures that meet enterprise needs.
Key Responsibilities
Engage with client business stakeholders' various functional domains to elicit, analyze, and translate business use cases into comprehensive PLM solution designs
Represent the design and implementation team in project governance activities; providing recommendations and risk assessment information in support of decision making
This role requires a strategic thinker who can translate complex technical architectures into clear business value, effectively engaging with stakeholders across engineering and executive levels to align PLM solutions with enterprise goals.
Lead the design, implementation, and validation of PLM solutions in Windchill environments.
Partner with implementation architects and IS teams to ensure solutions align with PTC’s SaaS guardrails and best practices.
Conduct technical assessments to determine feasibility and provide direction for estimating and planning.
Collaborate with client IT/IS teams to ensure compliance with deployment standards and cloud infrastructure requirements.
Facilitate client workshops, document business process issues, and develop actionable solution roadmaps.
Support data migration, configuration, and integration efforts using Windchill frameworks and technologies (e.g., Java, JSP, XML, Ant).
Provide feedback to PTC R&D and PLM Segment to enhance SaaS tools and services based on field experience.
Mentor and guide project teams, ensuring high-quality deliverables and client satisfaction.
Contribute to enablement materials, best practices, and methodology development for partner ecosystems.
Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related field.
7–12 years of experience in consulting, implementing, deploying, or supporting PLM systems, with a strong focus on PTC Windchill.
Proven ability to architect enterprise PLM solutions, including process-centric deployments and application design.
Cloud technologies (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), and enterprise application frameworks.
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders across technical and executive levels.
Experience in software development and deployment using languages like: Java, JSP, XML, and Ant.
Ability to visualize complex systems, guide diverse teams, and balance analytical and creative problem-solving.
Comfortable with ambiguity and change, and capable of acting decisively in dynamic environments.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams across customer and internal PTC stakeholders, including large-scale project teams. 
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading multi-solution PLM programs across industries.
Understanding of Windchill+ SaaS architecture,
Demonstrated success in value management, solution adoption, and client transformation initiatives.
Contributions to training, enablement, and community engagement within PLM consulting environments.
Experience in Automotive, MedTech, Government.

PTC carefully considers a wide range of factors when determining compensation. The anticipated annual salary range for this position is between $87,000 - 160,000. The anticipated annual salary range encompasses both the base salary and the on-target incentive compensation that may be attained in this role. The salary range reflects a good-faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
Actual compensation may vary based on a candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Eligible employees also have the opportunity to become a PTC shareholder through our employee share purchase program (ESPP) which allows for the purchase of discounted PTC stock. Certain roles may also be eligible for participation in our equity programs.
