Energy Department
The Energy Department is dedicated to managing and optimizing the energy resources required to power our data centers while promoting sustainability and efficiency. The Energy department plays a critical role in ensuring our power solutions are cost-effective, support speed to market, have sufficient scale to meet growing AI load, and resilient to energy market fluctuations. The team focuses on energy procurement from utilities, independent power producers (IPPs), energy marketers, and renewable energy technology providers.
Position Overview
This role can be based remotely in the US.
Vantage seeks an experienced Primary Power Project Manager that performs overall administrative, technical, financial, and resource management of substation and power projects from initial bid preparation through completion. The Primary Power Project Manager is responsible for delivering numerous projects simultaneously, safely, in accordance with quality standards, on time, and within budget. The ability to provide guidance and oversee multiple subcontractors associated with substation construction is essential. Internally, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining an inventory program, maintaining standards and guidelines for long lead items. Also, provide project management of projects that may be with other non-power projects.
Constant coordination with Market Development, Power Planning, New Site Development, Design, Construction, Operations, Sales, Solutions Engineering, Marketing, subject matter experts and the wider Executive Team (specifically with regards to strategic elements) will be required to keep pace with Vantage’s strategic land acquisition and leasing goals, including enhancing Vantage’s product and service offering wherever possible.
Essential Job Functions
Managing and leading substation and power generation projects throughout the entire project life cycle, including scope and/or proposal development, project team development and assignment, project execution, project closeout, quality control, schedule, and budget management.
Works directly with the construction management team to ensure successful delivery of projects
Responsible for the overall financials and contract management of multiple concurrent projects
Define problems, collect information, and establish facts to provide an appropriate resolution
Lead and execute pre-construction efforts in bid preparation, contract and exhibit review, and execution planning
Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
Setup, organize, update, and maintain electronic and printed files of project documents utilizing various systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and SharePoint; and others
Schedule and manage subcontractors, vendors, and material suppliers
Monitor and support construction to ensure the project is built on schedule and within budget
Ability to interpret and act on terms and conditions within contracts in consultation with the legal team to protect the company’s interest while maintaining good relationships
Review cost reports and evaluate methods to reduce cost while maintaining productivity
Manage budget projection for labor, material, equipment, and subcontractors procured on the project
Responsible for project cost forecasting, monthly cost to complete development, and accuracy of reporting
Responsible for the invoicing or payment application process as well as monitoring the quality of weekly labor and equipment hours, material, and subcontractor reporting
Responsible for productivity, efficient use of materials/equipment, and contractual performance of the project
Lead daily, weekly and monthly meetings, including monthly project reviews, as required, including the formulation of the agenda and minutes. Generate daily, weekly, or monthly meeting documents as required
Develop, submit, track, and maintain all project submittals and requests for information
Monitor and manage project scope and develop, negotiate, submit, track, and maintain client and/or subcontractor change orders when necessary
Develop and maintain project schedules in MS Project or Primavera
Additional duties as assigned by Management
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil or Electrical preferred).
Five plus years of experience in project management, construction management or project controls experience with a specific focus on substation construction preferred
PMP certification preferred
Thorough knowledge of all aspects of project management, project controls, contract management, budgeting, estimating, schedules, negotiations, construction management (technology, equipment, methods), and safety required
Expertise in project management, project controls, estimating, construction, finance, and contract management with a specific focus in substation construction
Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical specifications, financial reports, and legal documents
Knowledge of project management processes and tools
Knowledge of related building construction standards and codes
Ability to develop business cases, project plans, scheduling, estimating, and contract administration
Ability to develop effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Travel is expected to be up to 25% but may increase over time as the business evolves

Additional Details
Salary Range: $150,000-$160,000 Base + Bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
