PR Specialist

Hungry Operators With a Notebook Welcome to Apply

Seeking.com  |  Full-Time, Exempt, Remote (US)  |  Reports to: Senior PR Manager

About the Role

Seeking.com is the world's largest premium dating platform, and we are in the middle of the most important chapter of our brand transformation. The PR Specialist is the second seat on our in-house PR and Communications team, reporting to the Senior PR Manager. You will not be coordinating from the sidelines. You will be pitching journalists, drafting press releases, running the day-to-day operations of our member casting book, and stepping in front of cameras and microphones yourself when needed.

This is a role with real surface area for someone in the middle of their PR career. You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with our Senior PR Manager on every dimension of the function: tier-one pitching, executive visibility, agency coordination with our outside partners in the UK and US, trend-hijacking, awards, and member casting. You will own specific beats and pitching streams of your own, and you will learn from someone who is doing the same work at a higher altitude.

This is the right role for an ambitious specialist who wants to be promoted to Senior PR Manager in two to three years, and who knows that the way to get there is by doing the work, not waiting for permission.

Who Should Apply

We care more about wiring than resume. We are especially open to candidates from these backgrounds:

  • Mid-level agency operators (Account Executive to Senior Account Executive) at consumer, lifestyle, or entertainment shops
  • Reporters or junior editors looking to bring their newsroom instincts to the PR side
  • In-house PR specialists at consumer brands ready for a more entrepreneurial environment
  • Communications generalists from high-growth startups where PR was scrappy and the candidate had to figure it out

If you are early-to-mid career, hungry, and want to do the work of a Senior PR Manager while still earning the title, this role is for you.

Core ResponsibilitiesWriting, Pitching & Media Relations
  • Draft press releases, media alerts, pitch emails, op-eds, Q&As, fact sheets, executive bios, and briefing books for review by the Senior PR Manager
  • Pitch journalists, editors, podcast bookers, producers, bloggers, and influencers directly on the beats you own
  • Build and grow personal media relationships across dating, lifestyle, business, consumer tech, and culture beats
  • Respond to inbound media requests with speed and route information across the company
  • Identify and act on PR opportunities through Qwoted, HARO, and similar platforms daily
  • Help trend-hijack: bring at least two news-cycle insertion opportunities to the Senior PR Manager every week with a draft pitch attached
  • Edit and proofread your own work and your peers' work to AP-style standard before it goes to the Senior PR Manager
Member Casting & Storyteller Book
  • Run the day-to-day operations of the member casting book under the Senior PR Manager's direction
  • Recruit members into the book continuously, with diversity across age, profession, geography, relationship status, and story type
  • Vet members for media-readiness, brief them on outlet, journalist, angle, and message tracks before every press interaction
  • Match the right member to the right journalist request and coordinate availability inside hours
  • Manage all NDAs, consent forms, and post-interview follow-ups for member interviewees
  • Keep the casting book tagged, searchable, and current
Spokesperson Duties
  • Be available to participate in interviews and serve as a named or unnamed spokesperson for Seeking.com when needed
  • Substitute for the Senior PR Manager or Co-CEOs when they are unavailable, or when the story is better served by a member-of-the-PR-team perspective
  • Maintain personal media-readiness: keep talking points current, complete media training as the company offers it, and be comfortable on camera and in audio
  • Coordinate with the Senior PR Manager and legal on any spokesperson appearance with reputational sensitivity
Agency Coordination (UK and US Outside Partners)
  • Be the day-to-day operational liaison with our outside agency partners in the UK and US under the Senior PR Manager's direction
  • Run agency status calls, track deliverables, and follow up on open items
  • Quality-control agency-drafted materials before they reach the Senior PR Manager
  • Share approved messaging, campaign updates, and brand guidelines with agency partners and keep them current
  • Surface agency performance issues to the Senior PR Manager early and with specifics
Co-CEO & Executive Visibility Support
  • Help build the pipeline of podcast, interview, and speaking opportunities for our Co-CEOs
  • Draft briefing materials, narrative arcs, and message tracks for executive appearances
  • Research awards relevant to the brand and prepare submissions for the Senior PR Manager's review
  • Coordinate stage and panel opportunities at relevant conferences
Trend-Mining & Cultural Listening
  • Monitor news, newsletters, X, and competitor PR daily across dating, relationships, lifestyle, business, and tech
  • Maintain a running calendar of recurring cultural moments and pre-build pitches around them
  • Track competitor PR activity and flag where they are taking share of conversation we should be contesting
Operations, Reporting & Asset Management
  • Maintain media lists, pitch calendars, journalist contact databases, and CRM tracking
  • Maintain the PR asset library: approved imagery, boilerplates, key messaging, executive bios, and media kits
  • Monitor daily media coverage using Muck Rack, Cision, Meltwater, Google Alerts, and similar tools
  • Compile weekly coverage summaries and contribute to monthly PR reports
  • Maintain SOPs and process documentation for recurring workflows
  • Help maintain crisis communication resources and contact lists
Required Qualifications
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in PR (agency or in-house), journalism, or communications
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field, or equivalent professional track record
  • Demonstrated track record contributing to or personally securing media coverage (regional, trade, or national outlets)
  • Strong writing and editing skills with a portfolio of work you can point to
  • AI fluency. You already use ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, or similar tools to research, draft first passes, build media lists, and analyze coverage. You can describe the AI workflows you use
  • Working knowledge of Muck Rack, Cision, Meltwater, or equivalent, plus Qwoted/HARO, plus Jira/Asana/Monday, plus AP style
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills. You ship on time and nothing gets dropped
  • Willingness and ability to participate in interviews and substitute as a spokesperson on the company's behalf when needed
  • Comfort working remotely on a small, fast-moving team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience at a top consumer or lifestyle PR agency (Edelman, BerlinRosen, Weber Shandwick, Ketchum, M Booth, Ogilvy, or similar)
  • Newsroom experience as a reporter or junior editor
  • Existing relationships with dating, relationships, lifestyle, business, or consumer tech beat reporters
  • Experience with member, customer, or talent casting for media stories
  • Experience with influencer coordination or modern earned-and-paid integration
  • Comfort with reputation work for brands that carry public-perception baggage
  • Experience working at an entrepreneurial or founder-led company
Critical Success Factors
  • Speed and Output: You ship a high volume of high-quality work in a week. You finish drafts before you are asked twice
  • Story Instinct: You see angles other people do not, and you bring them to the Senior PR Manager already half-formed into pitches
  • Ownership of Beats: You become the go-to person on the beats you own, with the press list and the pitches to prove it
  • Casting Excellence: The member book under your operational care grows in depth, diversity, and media-readiness
  • Camera-Ready: You step into spokesperson moments without flinching when called on
  • AI as Leverage: You treat AI as a force multiplier and you describe your prompts and workflows as part of how you work
Cultural Fit: Who Thrives Here

Be honest with yourself about whether this is your environment:

  • You move fast. You would rather ship a B+ pitch in two hours than an A+ pitch in two days
  • You take feedback well, fast, and visibly. You want a manager who actually coaches you, and you can handle a high-volume editing pass without taking it personally
  • You are an operator, not a coordinator-for-life. You want to be doing the senior work, even when the title says Specialist
  • You are willing to step in front of the camera or microphone yourself. PR people at Seeking are not just behind the scenes
  • You care about the dating and relationships space, or you are curious enough about it to become a student
  • You are comfortable working on a brand with public-perception baggage and helping change the narrative
  • You take ownership. You are the kind of person who would rather fix something quietly than wait to be told to fix it
Day-in-the-Life
  • Morning media scan and competitor coverage check; flag opportunities for the team Slack
  • Pitch journalists on your beats; track outreach and responses
  • Draft a press release or pitch for the Senior PR Manager's review
  • Coordinate a member from the casting book for a journalist interview request and prep them on the call
  • Run the daily check-in with our outside agency partners on open deliverables
  • Update coverage tracker, asset library, and CRM
  • End the day by surfacing one trend-hijack opportunity for tomorrow morning's stand-up
What Success Looks Like in the First 12 Months
  • You are personally landing tier-two and tier-three placements on a regular basis, with progress toward tier-one
  • The casting book grows in size, diversity, and quality under your operational ownership
  • Your writing standard rises to the point where the Senior PR Manager's edits become lighter each quarter
  • You have stepped in as a spokesperson at least once and represented the brand well
  • Your AI workflows make you noticeably more productive than peers without them
  • You are seen as the team's go-to operator on at least one specific beat or workstream
Why This Role Matters

This is the operational engine of a function that is responsible for transforming how millions of people perceive Seeking. The Senior PR Manager sets the strategy. You make it real, day in and day out, with the pitches you send, the members you cast, the agencies you coordinate, and the cameras you step in front of when it is your turn. The way the public hears about Seeking over the next 24 months will be shaped, in real and direct ways, by the work you ship every week.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary: $80,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience
  • Performance bonus: up to 12% of base, tied to placements, casting book contribution, and team-level Share of Voice growth
  • Full-time, exempt, fully remote within the US
  • Health, dental, vision, 401(k), and standard benefits package
  • A manager who will actively coach you and a real path to Senior PR Manager
