OVERVIEW
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Welocalize is seeking passionate and culturally fluent linguists with deep knowledge of gaming and app-related content to join our Gaming Localization team. You’ll help shape engaging in-app content and user experiences that resonate with Portuguese-speaking audiences in Portugal across genres and platforms.
You’ll translate and adapt a variety of gaming-related content into native-level Portuguese bringing an authentic tone and voice to our client's global gaming platform. This is more than localization—it’s storytelling for a gaming-savvy audience.
Project Details:
Language Pair: English (US) > Portuguese (PT)
Task Type: Translation, Transcreation, Copy Editing
Volume: 2–5 hours/day (5 days/week)
Tools: Client tools
Workload: Daily/Weekly availability preferred
Assessment: Translation + Gaming/Creative task via attached test
MAIN DUTIES
- Translate and post-edit gaming-related content with precision and creativity.
- Adapt tone, style, and structure to reflect gaming culture, trends, and idiomatic usage in Portuguese (Portugal).
- Collaborate with our assessment team to complete brief testing in our platform (linguistic + creative tasks).
- Maintain brand consistency and linguistic accuracy across UI, banners, promotional assets, and in-game text.
- Provide feedback or suggestions for improving content relevance and user engagement.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Experience in gaming, apps, or creative localization.
- Strong familiarity with gaming terminology, trends, genres, and cultural context.
- Excellent command of Portuguese (Portugal) and deep cultural fluency.
- Comfortable using CAT tools and adapting content to multiple platforms.
- Degree in linguistics, translation, or journalism. Creative writing background preferred.
BONUS IF YOU HAVE:
- Published work on gaming platforms like IGN, Polygon, Kotaku, Eurogamer, or similar.
- Experience working with gaming or app-related services.
- A flair for adapting voice and style to Gen Z or gaming-savvy audiences.
