Job Description:
Role Summary
As a Platform Architect, you bring deep hands-on Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) Engagement expertise and a strong consulting mindset. Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will guide clients on best practices, provide technical leadership within the Engagement platform, and help design, build, and optimize digital messaging programs across email, mobile, and related channels.
This is a delivery-focused architect role. You will lead solution patterns, platform optimization, and technical execution without owning enterprise-wide architecture. You will act as a trusted technical advisor to clients and internal teams, supporting strategic decisions while remaining hands-on within the platform.
What You Will Do
Technical Solutioning and Platform Support
- Design and support scalable SFMC Engagement solutions for assigned clients
- Translate business requirements into clear, implementable technical configurations
- Conduct platform audits and health checks to identify risks and optimization opportunities
- Build and refine automations, journeys, segmentation logic, and campaign workflows
- Develop solutions using AMPscript, SSJS, SQL, and GTL
- Support REST and SOAP API integrations in partnership with senior technical leaders
- Maintain a strong understanding of SFMC data architecture including Data Extensions, Automations, Journey Builder, and Contact Builder
Client Strategy and Consulting
- Serve as the primary technical subject matter expert for assigned clients
- Provide proactive recommendations and guidance on new capabilities and best practices
- Explain technical topics in clear terms for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Contribute to client engagement roadmaps aligned to business goals and digital marketing standards
Documentation and Knowledge Sharing
- Create and maintain solution documentation such as workflow diagrams and technical specifications
- Contribute to internal best practices, reusable assets, and shared delivery standards
- Document platform patterns and lessons learned to strengthen internal capabilities
Collaboration and Delivery
- Work closely with developers, project managers, strategists, and analytics teams
- Troubleshoot platform issues and escalate complex problems when needed
- Stay current on SFMC releases and apply updates to client solutions
- Ensure reliable, high-quality, on-time delivery across all technical workstreams
What You Bring
Technical Skills
- 5 or more years of hands-on Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement experience
- Proficiency in AMPscript, SSJS, SQL, and familiarity with GTL
- Experience with REST and SOAP API integrations
- Strong understanding of platform components including Data Extensions, Contact Builder, Audience segmentation, Journey Builder, and Automation Studio
- One or more Salesforce certifications preferred such as Marketing Cloud Email Specialist, Administrator, Marketing Cloud Consultant, or Developer
- Experience with SFMC Connector or similar integration methods
- Background in technical implementation, development, or platform configuration
Consulting and Communication Skills
- Experience in a client-facing or consulting role
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly
- Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working through ambiguity
- Ability to lead requirements gathering and technical discovery sessions
Domain Knowledge
- Understanding of digital messaging best practices across email, SMS, and mobile or push channels
- Familiarity with CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and related compliance requirements
The annual salary range for this position is $99,500 - $130,000. Placement within the salary range is based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors permitted by law.
