The Role

As a Planning Consultant, you will offer world-class planning experiences and find opportunities to strengthen client relationships through asset consolidation, referrals, and plan implementation. You will develop an engagement strategy that meets each client’s planning needs. Through your integrity and adherence to Fidelity’s client commitment standards, we know you will inspire client dedication with a goal of developing lifetime relationships with Fidelity.

The Planning Consultant conducts joint client appointments and is passionate about delivering personalized financial consultations through Fidelity’s offerings. Through education and personalized planning, the role helps identify opportunities that support clients' long-term financial success. You will be creating and maintaining an organized client contact strategy, engaging business partners and using tools such as Salesforce, as well as building long-lasting, meaningful relationships with clients. Additionally, the role promotes a collaborative environment by mentoring and supporting fellow associates.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring
  • FINRA Series 7 & 66 licensed and hold appropriate state registrations, OR ability to acquire Series 66 upon hire
  • Minimum 2 years of financial services or relevant experience
  • Attainment of CFP® Certification is highly encouraged
  • Remarkable understanding of financial planning concepts to help clients build effective financial plans for them and their families.
  • Ability to profile to understand planning needs and identify appropriate solutions
  • Vested interest in building relationships and being an advocate for clients
  • Motivated toward success, willing to demonstrate ownership, and committed to achieving meaningful goals
  • Comfortable making outbound calls to further educate clients and uncover opportunities
The Team

The Planning Consultant works alongside the Financial Consultant or Wealth Planner to deliver financial planning support. This role expands upon the planning capabilities available to engage Fidelity’s most valuable clients. In addition to the primary responsibility of conducting financial planning interactions, the role supports the overall client relationship by leveraging innovative technologies, such as Glance, to enhance the client experience. You will be in complete alignment with Fidelity’s firm-wide initiatives that will give you the opportunity to positively influence clients’ financial plans. You will see your impact on the business and have exciting interactions with clients every single day. Through your knowledge of financial planning and your ability to form relationships, you will effectively profile, navigate and present the output of our guidance tools, leading to an in-depth discussion around our planning concepts. This will lead you to uncover additional complex planning opportunities in which you’ll partner with the Financial Consultant or Wealth Planner to develop further. This partnership will allow the team to further meet the needs of our clients.

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.

The base salary range for this position is $66,000-125,000 USD per year.  

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
