The Opportunity

The People Operations Partner will join 1848 Ventures as a core member of the People & Culture team, providing high-impact HR business partner-style support across the studio and its growing portfolio of ventures. This individual contributor role is designed for a senior-level People & Culture professional who is energized by building scalable systems, shaping culture, and guiding leaders through change and growth.

You’ll partner closely with leaders across the portfolio, enabling healthy team dynamics and aligned decision-making. You’ll create clarity and consistency across our people systems, serve as a trusted advisor during moments that matter, and bring forward insights that make our culture stronger over time.

This role is ideal for someone who is fluent in early-stage company building and comfortable toggling between strategic thinking and operational execution. The ideal candidate is a thoughtful collaborator who can support multiple ventures while upholding studio-wide consistency and compliance.

What You Will Do

Strategic People Partnering

  • Serve as a thought partner and advisor to leaders on org design, team dynamics, and performance
  • Guide leaders through people planning processes including performance reviews, talent planning, and role scoping
  • Coach leaders through sensitive team moments and support thoughtful, values-aligned decision-making

People Systems and Operations

  • Design and manage scalable systems for onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, and day-to-day people operations
  • Partner on communication and documentation around organizational changes and people-related updates
  • Partner with People & Culture Leader on compensation alignment and process consistency
  • Manage our PEO relationship and ensure a high-quality, compliant experience for employees across the portfolio

Studio Culture and Insights

  • Analyze and share people data to surface trends and opportunities
  • Partner with Marketing to align employer brand messaging with internal culture
  • Contribute to the evolution of consistent policies, tools, and processes across the studio and ventures

Venture Support and Early Team Formation

  • Guide early-stage ventures through initial team formation, role design, and onboarding
  • Ensure feedback loops are in place early and help ventures establish foundational people practices
  • Adapt support based on stage of venture and evolving business needs

Nice-to-Have

  • Background in recruiting, especially helpful during peak hiring periods or early team formation

Who You Are

  • 8+ years in People Operations, HR Business Partner, or equivalent roles with increasing responsibility
  • Experience in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments or startup/venture ecosystems
  • Deep knowledge of HR systems, processes, compliance, and employee experience
  • Track record of building trust with leaders and providing strategic counsel
  • Clear and thoughtful communicator, both written and verbal
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and balancing flexibility with consistency

Travel

This position is remote. Candidates should be available for occasional in-person collaboration and team events, with travel expected approximately 10–15% of the time.
