Position Summary
The Pathology Commercial Marketing Director is responsible for developing and executing the commercial marketing strategy for NeoGenomics' Pathology business. This role drives market growth, brand positioning, and customer engagement across the pathology segment, ensuring NeoGenomics is recognized as a trusted, preferred partner across all pathology modalities. By leveraging market intelligence, customer insights, and data-driven marketing strategies, they will strengthen existing relationships, expand market presence, and deliver measurable business impact through disciplined execution and continuous optimization of commercial marketing initiatives.
Core Responsibilities
- Define and build segmentation and account intelligence for Pathology audience
- Own vendor selection and budget for external research, closing intelligence gaps beyond what internal data can answer
- Prioritize segment strategy across the buyer’s journey, leading with retention and expansion to deepen existing relationships, paired with modality-specific awareness/consideration to earn preferred-partner recognition across all pathology modalities
- Lead the creation of segment-specific marketing programs and resources, building on Product Marketing’s positioning and messaging, partnering with Creative, Digital, and external partners to execute
- Center every program on the outcome the audience needs, not the test itself
- Prototype and test new programs quickly, using early signal to decide what to scale, adjust, or kill, moving in weeks and months, not waiting a year to know what’s working
- Own the day-to-day sales partnership for oncology, serving as the direct commercial marketing interface with Oncology Sales leadership
- Define the KPIs that measure success for each program, with full authority to reprioritize investment within budget and to build the case for reallocation across budgets
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Master preferred
- 12+ years of progressive marketing experience, in diagnostics or healthcare
- Demonstrated experience growing or expanding existing customer relationships into new product lines or service area
- Demonstrated experience owning a marketing budget, including selecting and managing external research or agency vendors directly
- Track record of setting strategy independently rather than executing against a plan set by someone above them
- Demonstrated comfort operating as a senior individual contributor, accountable for strategy and execution, without a layer of leadership above managing the details
- Experience partnering with Sales leadership as a strategic peer, not a service function
- Experience growing or expanding an existing customer relationship into new product lines or service areas, distinct from new-customer acquisition
- Analytical fluency: comfortable defining KPIs, reading performance data, and making the call to scale, adjust, or kill a program
- Experience running fast test-and-learn cycles rather than long planning processes before launch
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, able to direct the work of Creative, Digital, and outside partners without formal authority over them
Travel: 30%, including overnight travel
