Job Summary
Under minimal supervision, the PACS Administrator coordinates technical related activities within the Radiology, Cardiology, Dental, Ophthalmology and Women's Care Imaging Information Systems. This includes, but is not limited to: Philips Vue PACS, Merge Cardio, Digisonics PACS, Infinitt PACS, DICOM Routing, Dictation & Voice Recognition, and HL7 Interfaces.
Monitors the health and performance of all Imaging environments, their supporting applications, servers, associated interfaces and workstations, and addresses issues as they are discovered.
Leads and collaborates with troubleshooting efforts and problem resolution implementation.
Leads and collaborates with planning of system enhancements, upgrades and testing.
Adheres to organizational Change Management procedures.
Controls deployment and configuration management using Git and related development tools such as BASH, Lua, and Powershell.
Develops documentation and provides and training to junior team members and end-users.
Essential Functions:

  • Manage day-to-day operation of Imaging Information Systems topology including client/server software, workstations and physical & virtual server infrastructure. (30%)
  • Provide technical support for physicians, clinicians, and other end-users on PACS-related issues. (20%)
  • Communicates and intervenes appropriately with end users, departmental personnel, or with vendors to help resolve issues in a timely manner. (10%)
  • Author documentation and provide training/instruction to staff as appropriate. (5%)
  • Proactively seek opportunities to streamline procedures, enhance tools, improve monitoring, evolve workflows and systems to ensure the highest-level functionality of Imaging systems. (10%)
  • Performs systems testing for all planned upgrades. (10%)
  • Perform workflow discovery and analysis to design solutions for business stakeholders. (10%)
  • Anticipates resources needs and plans accordingly. (5%)
  • Participates in a 24x7 PACS on-call rotation to resolve imaging related problems. (0%)

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in either information systems or computer science required, or equivalent work experience in realms listed below.

Work Experience:

  • 1-3 years technical support managing workstations, applications, and servers inclusive of both hardware and software required.
  • 1-3 years relevant imaging administration within a PACS or Enterprise Imaging environment required.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Working knowledge of DICOM routing, HL7 interface engines.
    • Working knowledge of computer networking, physical and virtual computing.
    • Experienced administrator of computer-based diagnostic imaging applications.
    • Demonstrated ability to understand, develop, and implement complex workflows and processes of imaging systems.
    • Microsoft Office skills required.
    • Experienced administrator within a Windows 10 or higher desktop environment as well as Microsoft Server 2016 and higher server environment.
