Director, Corporate Sustainability

Position Description
The Director of Sustainability will assess and lead Zayo’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives and strategy. Key aspects of the role include the tracking and reporting on sustainability metrics, developing and delivering an annual ESG report, partnering with ESG stakeholders across the organization and integrating sustainability compliance and innovation throughout the company. This position will ensure that Zayo’s sustainability efforts enhance business performance and will support the long-term interests of the company.
Roles and Responsibilities
Determine existing environmental, social, and governance impacts that are material to and can be influenced by Zayo. Includes Refreshing the company’s materiality assessment, surveying employee, customer and investor stakeholders.
Partner with a cross-functional team of senior executives to identify, support and track key ESG initiatives.
Identify and track goals and KPIs for key ESG initiatives..
Lead external ESG reporting and serve as the central resource for all internal and external communications around sustainability, including employee engagement, investor relations, customer inquiries, and community relations.
Develop and ensure compliance with sustainability policies, including but not limited to environmental, smart commuting, volunteer, sustainable purchasing and events, human rights, vendor/supply chain management, internal privacy & security and anti-corruption.
Engage stakeholders by understanding how their interests relate to sustainability, communicating company sustainability goals, and building partnerships to support sustainability efforts.
Monitor and implement emerging trends in corporate sustainability
Assess, measure, and report on sustainability initiatives, working towards GRI reporting
Foster a culture of sustainability through development of office green teams, community engagement, events and education
Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of experience in the areas of corporate sustainability, finance, project management experience, energy efficiency, policy, and/or corporate strategy.
Undergraduate B.A. or B.S. degree. Focused area of study in Science, Engineering, Business, Finance or Economics preferred.
MBA and/or equivalent work experience with proven ability to work across functional boundaries preferred.
Well-developed financial skills including business case development, cost management, budgeting and financial analysis.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, and prepare presentations and proposals. Must possess ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees and customers.
Proficiency in the MS Office suite with emphasis on Excel, Word and PowerPoint is required. Knowledge of Salesforce.com platform is a plus.
Requires an individual who is detailed oriented with superb organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize, as well as someone who can collaborate with senior leaders across multiple functional groups. Requires an ability to be flexible in work schedule and to work and meet strict deadlines with limited supervision.
