Position Summary
The Director, Oncology Commercial Marketing is responsible for developing and executing the commercial marketing strategy for NeoGenomics' Oncology business, with a focus on Community Oncology and Hospital-Based Oncology market segments. This role serves as the strategic marketing lead for the Oncology portfolio, leveraging customer insights, market intelligence, and data-driven decision making to strengthen customer relationships, drive demand, and accelerate business growth. Through disciplined testing, optimization, and cross-functional collaboration, the Director develops targeted marketing strategies that elevate NeoGenomics from a transactional service provider to a trusted oncology partner, delivering differentiated value and measurable commercial impact across key customer segments.
Core Responsibilities
- Build segmentation and account intelligence for Community Oncology and Hospital-based Oncology practices
- Own vendor selection and budget for external research, closing intelligence gaps beyond what internal data can answer
- Prioritize segment strategy across the buyer’s journey, concentrating early investment on awareness/consideration and retention/expansion, with data-driven tactic selection and execution
- Lead the creation of segment-specific marketing programs and resources, building on Product Marketing’s positioning and messaging, partnering with Creative, Digital, and external partners to execute
- Center every program on the outcome the audience needs, not the test itself
- Prototype and test new programs quickly, using early signal to decide what to scale, adjust, or kill, moving in weeks and months, not waiting a year to know what’s working
- Own the day-to-day Sales partnership for Oncology, serving as the direct commercial marketing interface with Oncology Sales leadership
- Define the KPIs that measure success for each program, with full authority to reprioritize investment within budget and to build the case for reallocation across budgets
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Master preferred
- 12+ years of progressive marketing experience in pharma, diagnostics, or healthcare, including direct oncology commercial or field marketing exposure
- Experience across both physician-owned/community practice and hospital or IDN-affiliated settings preferred, given this role owns strategy for both segments
- Demonstrated experience owning a marketing budget, including selecting and managing external research or agency vendors directly
- Track record of setting strategy independently rather than executing against a plan set by someone above them
- Demonstrated comfort operating as a senior individual contributor, accountable for strategy and execution, without a layer of leadership above managing the details
- Experience partnering with Sales leadership as a strategic peer, not a service function
- Comfortable defining KPIs, reading performance data, and making the call to scale, adjust, or kill a program
- Experience running fast test-and-learn cycles rather than long planning processes before launch
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, able to direct the work of Creative, Digital, and outside partners without formal authority over them
Travel: 30%, including overnight travel
