Motorola Solutions Connectivity NG9-1-1 Routing Services is a portfolio of products and services that deliver the critical elements needed to enable and operate a Next Generation 9-1-1 Core Services (NGCS) solution. The call and multimedia routing subsystem technology is known as VESTA® Router. VESTA® Router is responsible for receiving incoming emergency calls, voice, SMS, and multimedia, in a NENA i3 SIP format from the originating service provider (OSP). The VESTA® NG9-1-1 Call Routing Service is specifically designed and engineered to provide a scalable solution that accommodates both legacy and Next Generation call routing.
Job Description
The Solutions Architect (SA) is responsible for the implementation of Motorola Solutions Connectivity NG9-1-1 Routing Services products and services that deliver the critical elements needed to enable and operate a Next Generation 9-1-1 Core Services (NGCS) solution and integrate Emergency Call Handling Products offered by Motorola Solutions.
The SA Must act and be recognized as the technical authority / focal point providing overall technical leadership for the project implementation. Work with customers to understand overall solutions needs and functionality. Take ownership of the technical solution from pre-sale and provide input to the project/program manager to develop the project deployment schedule.
Identify technical risks of the projects and work with the PM on mitigation plans. Identify customer expectation mismatch to how service works, and develop, present, and execute mitigation plans. Technical counterpart with the PM in vendor, customer, and internal facing meetings.
Responsibilities:
Technical counterpart with the Program Manager (PM) in vendor, customer, and internal facing meetings.
Overall technical leadership for the project implementation, taking ownership of the end to end solution.
Understand the technical requirements, concepts of operation, and architecture of the overall solution.
Work with design input to develop end to end integration, migration, acceptance, and migration plans.
Identify technical risks of the projects and work with the PM on mitigation plans.
Technical counterpart with the Program Manager (PM) in vendor, customer, and internal facing meetings.
Become Integration Specialist of customer Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) equipment and software.
Create, validate, and execute methods of procedures for integrating core components of the NGCS, transport network, and customer premise equipment.
Provide continuous improvement support with Product and Deployment teams to increase quality and efficiency of network designs.
Directly engage Development and Lab teams to align with project scope.
Lead test coordination efforts, readiness and completion reviews.
Assists Program Manager (PM) in developing and managing costs and schedules by identifying technical risks to the deployment plan and suggesting mitigation options for those risks.
Define and implement third party product configurations that include switching, routing, DNS, firewall, and load balancing functions.
Work closely with the Motorola Program Manager (PM) to provide a smooth transition from project implementation to NGCS Operations and service delivery.
Qualifications:
7 years of professional engineering experience in Telecommunication System, IP Transport Network, IT, Field Service, Product Development, Technical Support or those equivalent with an emphasis on Public Safety is desired.
Next Generation 9-1-1 Industry Awareness (NENA, APCO, etc.). Can identify industry and market trends
Familiarity with State and Local Government Public Safety technologies & operations.
Experience at a Public Safety technology supplier or direct Government Public Safety role is required.
Experience supporting complex end-to-end network solutions in a Mission Critical environment, including fault tolerant, high availability, and redundant implementations.
Understanding of test stages and test phases required during integration of large public safety systems, software, and networks.
Knowledge of communication protocols, client server architectures, computer networking technologies, network security solutions, and software integration.
In depth knowledge of networking protocols, system calls, TCP/IP stack, and OSI model.
Knowledge of Linux, Windows Server, VMware ESXi, Active Directory, Network Policy, and Powershell.
Ability to understand and articulate details associated with customer networks.
Strong problem solving skills, analytical abilities and ability to deliver on time.
Produce transparent written and verbal communications.
Computer skills (I.e. MS Office suite, Google applications, Smartsheets, etc..) Must be comfortable using hosted applications, and collaboration tools.
Awareness of Motorola Solutions Connectivity Products and Services
Must be a self motivated team player able to work effectively with general guidance toward objectives.
Must have excellent interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills
Ability to travel at times 25-50% of the time
This is a Home Based role but can be located in an Office when available
Preferred Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical engineering with 5 years of experience or 7 years of related experience.
Basic Requirements
- 5 - 7 years of 9-1-1 integration OR technical integration
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position
