SUMMARY

MPLX NG & NGL Operations West Region is seeking an Operations Engineer. The Operations Engineer will provide engineering support, project management, technical stewardship, and oversight to gathering, pipeline, compression, and gas plant operations assets. This position will report to the Operations Engineering Manager and requires previous experience in the key areas of operations engineering, crude oil/natural gas/natural gas liquids gathering, pipelines, compression/pump facilities, and gas processing plants. The role focuses on providing operations engineering support and the development/execution of gathering, pipeline, compression, and gas plant-related projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES SUMMARY

· Provide engineering support and technical oversight for gathering, pipeline, compression, and gas plant operations.

· Troubleshoot operational issues and optimize processes using sound engineering practices.

· Manage capital and expense projects, ensuring adherence to budgets and project management standards.

· Perform engineering calculations and modeling using modern technical tools and software.

· Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.

· Participate in Process Safety Management activities (PHAs, MOCs, etc.).

· Collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts to maintain industry best practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Utilizes modern technical tools and software to perform engineering calculations and modeling for gas processing and related systems.

2. Develops, implements, and manages capital and expense projects for business units while adhering to budgets and project management processes; supervises contract personnel for project development and execution as required.

3. Develops projects (250$M), economic evaluations, scoping, costing, and approval documentation for gas plant and associated infrastructure.

4. Participates in Process Safety Management processes (PHAs, MOCs, etc.) as applicable to gas plant operations.

5. Partners with company and industry subject matter experts to maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of applicable DOT, OSHA, EPA, and other environmental safety regulations; ensures area of responsibility is compliant with all industry and company standards.

6. Ensures compliance with OSHA PSM standards and company safety protocols.

· Participates in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), Management of Change (MOC) reviews, and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).

· Collaborates with operations and maintenance teams to identify and mitigate process safety risks.

· Drives continuous improvement in safety performance through audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering from accredited college or university required.

· Valid Driver's License Required.

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience with gas plant design and construction, including project planning, equipment specification, and commissioning.

· Familiarity with process simulation software such as ProMax, VMG Symmetry, and/or Aspen HYSYS is a plus.
