Spectrolab, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company's Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) business unit has an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Level Production Manufacturing Design and Development Training Specialist to join our dynamic team in Sylmar, California.
Spectrolab is the world's leading merchant supplier of the highest efficiency multijunction solar cells for spacecraft power systems, with proven reliability drawn from 65 years of space heritage. Spectrolab's state-of-the-art space solar cells and panels power satellites in Earth's orbit, as well as the International Space Station.
This individual will be training initiatives for manufacturing technicians with the focus on solar cell, panel and wing manufacturing.
This role will focus on providing technical instruction, hands-on training, documenting training processes, and developing comprehensive training courses that enhance the skills and competencies of our technicians.
The Technical Training Specialists will play a vital role in ensuring our workforce is well-equipped to meet production demands and maintain high-quality standards.

The Technical Training Specialists will play a vital role in ensuring our workforce is well-equipped to meet production demands and maintain high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Training Development:
- Design, develop, and implement effective training programs tailored to the specific needs of manufacturing technicians.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to create engaging training materials, including manuals, presentations, and e-learning modules.
- Participate in the design, development, and maintenance of our on-site training center.
Hands-On Training:
- Conduct hands-on training sessions to ensure technicians can effectively operate machinery, troubleshoot issues, and adhere to safety protocols.
- Utilize various training methods, including simulations, on-the-job training, and workshops, to enhance learning outcomes.
- Document all training processes, including objectives, materials, and evaluation methods.
- Maintain accurate records of training sessions, participant progress, and feedback for continuous improvement.
- Meet and maintain compliance with the SPL and Boeing training management requirements.
- Develop assessments and assessment tools to evaluate the effectiveness of the trainee and the training programs and identify areas for improvement.
- Gather feedback from participants and stakeholders to refine training content and delivery methods.
- Work closely with production management to identify training needs and align programs with operational goals.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the manufacturing team.
- Ensure all training programs comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Promote a safe working environment through effective training on safety practices and emergency procedures.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- 3 or more years of experience designing and developing course content and instructional material
- 3 or more years of experience in a production and/or manufacturing environment
- 3 or more years of experience with providing instruction in a professional training environment utilizing adult learning principles
- 3 or more years of experience collaborating with subject matter experts in the development, implementation and training of processes and tools.
- 3 or more years of experience developing training and training others in a specific process or skill
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Proficient with utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience in an Aerospace manufacturing/production environment
- Experience with the application of improvement methodologies such as (Lean, Theory of Constraints and/or Six Sigma)
- Familiar with Boeing learning management systems
