The Manager will lead a team that provides planning, implementation, consulting and collaboration that supports Thrivent to deliver effective field conferences, meetings, and corporate events. The position works with event planners, event sponsors, and Thrivent senior management to ensure an exceptional attendee experience by determining the appropriate use of event technology to support timely, accurate, branded communication and event promotion. The Manager will provide governance and guidance in the expansion of the event technology platform to support Thrivent’s strategic meetings management program, including the development of enterprise-wide event calendar and reporting. The Manager will design and deliver websites for highly complex and/or high visibility events to ensure the successful, high-quality execution of 150+ events annually

         

          

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Develops and drives complex project plans for the successful execution of events, ensuring alignment on event objectives/outcomes and striking a balance between customization and efficiency. Anticipates change and mitigates risk/damage accordingly. Manage project plan to deliver events on time in order to maximize return on event investment and meeting objectives.
  • Leads Attendee Experience planning to design, build and manage event registration web sites and mobile sites that support the event objectives/outcomes; researches and creates meeting technology solutions, solves technology related problems impacting meetings and events.
  • Leads Attendee Experience planning to design event communications and materials that support the event objectives/outcomes including informational and promotional materials, weThrive and FieldNet communications; write event related materials including emails,  survey design; partner with Creative Services and Procurement in the production of event materials; design event communication calendars and oversee event task completion; create internal and external event performance surveys to determine return on event objectives. Communicate with event attendees on registration and event related issues for highly complex and/or high visibility events.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact with event technology vendor to optimize Thrivent’s investment in strategic meetings management and identify continued opportunities for improvement and expansion.
  • Drives the application of Thrivent brand expression and voice in development of event content , websites, and collateral materials. Manages quality control including functionality of websites and applies final check for accuracy on event related communications.
  • Manages relationships with vendors (technology, registration, web providers, etc.) to ensure service delivery targets are met. Leads sourcing and contract negotiation when new suppliers are required.
  • Recruits, develops, and sustains a high-performing team while promoting a culture of shared accountability, operational excellence, and partnership across the organization.
  • Participates in national event related associations. Maintains strong ties to industry groups, constantly evaluating Thrivent’s position within the industry. Ensures best-in-class production of events, taking advantage of the latest information, products and practices. (high complexity)

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:  

 Required:

  • College degree required in Communications, Marketing, or related fields or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of staff management experience
  • 2+ years of experience leading event technology and/or event planning team
  • Industry certifications (MPI Event Data Analysis Certificate, Virtual Event and Meeting Management Certificate) or certificate in meeting management (CMM)
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to successfully meet critical deadlines.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high pressure environment while demonstrating superior poise, critical thinking skills and excellent judgement
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to present to senior management and influence decision making
  • Travel required: Approximately 20%

Preferred: 

  • Technology strategy or strategic meetings management (SMM) experience in Cvent or similar platform
  • Project management certification preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills preferred

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $109,268.00 - $147,832.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
