Hackster.io, an Avnet Company, is seeking a bold, visionary senior media manager to lead our transformation into the most impactful media platform in the electronics and engineering space.

We’re a high-performing, fast-moving team serving a global community of over 2 million engineers. From running engineering challenges with top tech brands to spotlighting groundbreaking innovations from creators, Hackster is a home for the world’s most passionate product builders. Now, we’re building the next chapter — and we need an ambitious Media Lead to achieve our aspirations.

Why This Role Matters Now

This is a mission-critical leadership position. As we evolve from a content-driven community into a high-impact media platform, the Media Lead will architect and scale our entire media ecosystem: social media, short-form video, long-form video, content creator syndication, and episodic productions. Your work will fuel platform growth, increase sponsor ROI, and establish Hackster as the destination for engineering insight and inspiration.

Key Responsibilities

● Media Vision & Execution - Own and execute a bold, multi-channel media strategy aligned with Hackster’s GTM goals. Set the tone as Executive Producer for all media initiatives.

● Content Strategy & Innovation - Develop a high-impact content roadmap: short-form video, investigative reporting, engineering series, and more. Think like a creator, act like a CEO of content.

● Audience Growth & Community Impact - Drive exponential increases in reach, engagement, and loyalty. Serve engineers, creators, and technical decision-makers with purpose-built content that informs and inspires.

● Syndication & Creator Network - Cultivate a powerful content syndication and creator network. Forge partnerships with publications, creators, and thought leaders in tech.

● Advertising & Revenue Enablement - Collaborate with Product and Sales to grow Hackster’s ad network. Develop integrated sponsor solutions that increase visibility and drive new revenue.

● Social & Brand Voice - Build a best-in-class social media presence that fuels community conversation, reinforces trust, and reflects Hackster’s unique tone.

● Performance & Analytics - Champion a data-driven approach. Implement tools to monitor content performance and measure value for both the community and sponsors.

● Team & Culture Leadership - Operate with autonomy, lead cross-functional efforts, and mentor junior staff. Scale media operations efficiently while maintaining quality.

● Industry Representation - Be the face of Hackster Media at events and in the press. Strengthen Hackster’s reputation as a thought leader in hardware, open-source, and the engineering creator economy.

Who You Are

● A Strategic Visionary - You see the future of content in a post-AI world and are ready to lead us there.

● A Media Veteran - 8+ years in media, publishing, or content strategy with leadership experience. Bonus if you know the electronics/engineering space.

● Audience Obsessed - You think in terms of value to the reader/viewer and growth in reach, retention, and resonance.

● Business-Minded - You understand how content drives monetization and how to integrate sponsor interests without compromising editorial integrity.

● Creator-Savvy - Deep experience working with influencers, creators, and social platforms — not just as channels, but as communities.

● Analytical & Agile - Comfortable leading with metrics while iterating quickly in a high-speed environment.

Why You’ll Love It Here

● Culture of Impact - Shape the voice of the world’s largest engineering platform with autonomy and purpose.

● Mission-Aligned - Be part of a platform that empowers people to build what’s next.

● Hybrid & Flexible - Results matter most. Work where and how you perform best.

● Unlimited Vacation - Take time to recharge, and come back even stronger.

● Growth-Oriented - Access to training, conferences, and a community of brilliant minds.

● Full Benefits - Medical, 401k, tuition reimbursement, and more.

Work Experience:

  • Typically 8+ years with bachelor's or equivalent.
