About This Role:

Join Crusoe Energy as a Mechanical Engineer III and leverage your advanced expertise to transform complex customer requirements into innovative 3D structural models for our mobile structures, electrical control cabinets, and standalone enclosures. This pivotal role involves leading and supporting the creation and release of precise fabrication drawings, and providing technical guidance and support across sales, purchasing, project management, and production throughout the entire product development lifecycle. You'll be instrumental in ensuring our designs are not only functional but also meticulously compliant with all regulatory and commercial codes. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, with 3D modeling skills, an understanding of structural design for modular buildings and enclosures, and a passion for driving continuous improvement and innovation in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is a full-time position.

What You’ll Be Working On:

  • Structural Design and Documentation: Lead and contribute to the design of complex modular buildings and metal enclosures, and develop comprehensive specification sheets, intricate bills of materials, detailed assembly instructions, and other critical fabrication documents, setting high standards for accuracy and completeness.

  • Code Compliance and Standards Integration: Ensure all product designs rigorously comply with complex regulatory requirements, commercial codes, customer specifications, advanced engineering standards, and company practices and procedures, providing guidance to less experienced engineers.

  • Drawing and Manual Processing: Take ownership of the accurate and timely processing of complex shop drawings, product submittals, operation and maintenance manuals, and meticulously record all as-built drawings, ensuring traceability and precision.

  • Design Review and Quality Assurance: contribute to  thorough model reviews and drawing checks as an integral part of the engineering design release process, serving as a primary point of quality assurance and technical approval.

  • Drive Cost Reduction and Manufacturing Efficiency:  contribute to Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) and Design for Excellence (DFx) reviews, focusing on significant cost reduction strategies and enhancing overall manufacturing cost and efficiency across multiple projects.

  • Strategic Engineering Change Management: Independently execute and manage complex Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) as a key part of product release and ongoing lifecycle management, identifying impacts and coordinating changes.

  • Advanced Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate strategically and lead initiatives with Sales, Project Management, Purchasing, and Manufacturing teams to support complex customer inquiries, resolve advanced problems, and foster creative, high-value solutions for both the customer and the organization.

  • Champion Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify, propose, and implement significant improvements to design procedures, processes, and methods, enhancing safety, quality, and overall efficiency across the engineering department.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • Educational Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Process, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent engineering discipline.

  • Advanced 3D Modeling Proficiency: proficiency with 3D modeling software, specifically AutoCAD Inventor and AutoDesk Vault, demonstrating advanced techniques for complex design and document management.

  • Structural Design Experience: Proven 2-5 years of experience in structural design for modular buildings, particularly Power Distribution Centers and Data Centers, as well as complex standalone metal structures and electrical enclosures.

  • Code Knowledge: familiarity with a wide range of building codes, energy codes, and their respective compliance checks, with the ability to interpret and apply them to diverse designs.

  • Materials Knowledge: knowledge of metals and materials commonly used for fabrication, including their properties, limitations, and optimal application in design.

  • Analytical and Decision-Making: Exceptional analytical ability and sound decision-making skills to tackle complex, multi-faceted design challenges and guide technical solutions.

  • Meticulous Detail-Oriented Approach: Must be highly detail-driven, ensuring absolute precision in all designs, calculations, and documentation.

  • Collaborative Team Player: Proven ability to perform as a strong team player, willing to take on additional roles, proactively support teammates, and guide collaborative efforts.

  • Advanced Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills for effective communication and negotiation across all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.

  • Physical Capabilities: Ability to lift, lower, push, and pull merchandise up to 50 lbs, and to stand, walk, stoop, and bend for 8 hours or more daily.

  • Computer Operation: Requires constant use of arms, hands, fingers, eyes, legs, and back for operating computers and advanced design software.

  • Commitment to Compliance: Willingness to undergo a background check and drug test.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience using Material Requirements Planning (MRP) software, with a focus on optimizing design-to-production workflows.

  • Demonstrated high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in planning, organizing, and guiding extensive programs and activities of importance.

  • Proven track record of seeing complicated, long-term projects through to successful completion with exceptional patience and persistence.

  • A strong drive to identify, create, and continually improve engineering design systems, processes, and methodologies, leading to significant efficiency gains.

Benefits:

  • Hybrid work schedule (4-days per week in-office)

  • Industry competitive pay
