We have 12 antennas on-orbit and 20 flight deliverables occurring in 2025. Title: Mechanical Engineer Internship Summer 2026

Pay Range: $27.00 Hourly (Rates to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data).

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will be supporting internal research and development (IRAD) efforts in novel material and product development, testing, and qualification. The IRAD team operates on the frontlines of product development, investigating the feasibility of new concepts and supporting appropriate integration with our highly demanding product lines.

Position Details:

  • 3-month paid internship
  • 40 hours per week
  • No relocation assistance

Location: Louisville, CO

What you'll do:

  • Work closely with the IRAD team.
  • Create prototypes for new product concepts, often featuring soft goods materials. Experience with sewing, knitting, bonding, fabrics, cords, and fiber arts is desired.
  • Designing, prototyping, and assembling test fixturing for evaluating materials and/or assembly performance.
  • Designing, prototyping, and implementing data acquisition systems.
  • Operating tests, including data acquisition software.
  • Post-processing data for desired insights.
  • Designing, prototyping, and implementing novel tools for in-situ product evaluation.
  • Perform analysis and hand calculations as needed to support design development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications/Education:

  • Currently pursuing a degree from a four-year university or relevant Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering course work. Must be working towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or any other relevant engineering certification.
  • Strong ability to work in teams and collaborate with peers and internal customers.
  • Strong analytical skills – comfortable working with quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Ability to learn new processes quickly and effectively multi-task.
  • Effective communication skills; comfortable working in a team environment; high energy and desire to learn.
  • Demonstrate leadership experience through school or extracurricular projects.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization and active listening skills.
  • Strong emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
