MBA Summer Intern
Realize 2050 · Summer 2026 · 10 weeks · Fully Remote (option for contract-to-hire)
The Role
We're looking for an MBA Summer Intern to embed on a live engagement and own a real workstream end-to-end.
Realize 2050 is an energy solutions consultancy and venture studio. We work with utilities, energy system incumbents, and well-funded startups to launch new businesses across energy and transportation. We call ourselves decision architects, and we run our Innovation Flywheel to take climate technologies from concept to commercialization. If you came back to business school to build a career in energytech, gridtech, transportation electrification, or infrastructure innovation, this is the summer to test it.
What You'll Do
Engagement Work
Own a real workstream end-to-end, scoped against a client decision that matters
Build the economics model that anchors the client recommendation
Draft buyer-specific messaging and pitch materials
Help prepare customer conversations and translate what you hear into sharper strategy
Present your work to the engagement team and, when it's ready, to the client
Venture & Commercialization
Help a startup client find its first real buyers and build the sales motion to repeat it
Pressure-test a venture concept or partnership thesis: who buys this, why, and on what terms
Help build a decision framework that the team reuses across engagements
You Might Be a Fit If You Have
Currently enrolled in a top MBA program
3–6 years of pre-MBA experience in strategy consulting, energy or transportation, infrastructure investing, climate tech, or product/venture roles
Demonstrated ability to take ambiguous problems and drive them to a defensible recommendation without a playbook
Strong financial modeling and quantitative reasoning
Sharp written and verbal communication
AI literacy: you use modern AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, agentic workflows) fluently in your own work, and you have a point of view on where they help and where they don't
Genuine interest in energy and transportation systems, utilities, gridtech, energytech, electrification
Bonus Points For
Prior work with or inside investor-owned utilities, ISO/RTOs, or regulators
Experience launching, scaling, or advising an early-stage hardtech or energytech venture, especially commercial enablement (segmentation, messaging, sales playbook, deal coaching)
Familiarity with grid planning, energy software, enterprise AI/ML product development, or transportation electrification
Exposure to public-private funding, IRA/IIJA programs, state Clean Fuels Standards, or other state-level energy and transportation policy
What We Offer
Real project ownership, not coffee runs and observation
Direct mentorship from Principals and Engagement Managers, with weekly partner check-ins
A clear conversion path to a full-time post-MBA role for interns who deliver
Competitive intern compensation
Fully remote — work from anywhere in the US
