Zayo is seeking a Market Development Representative (MDR) is responsible for identifying and pursuing business opportunities within government agencies and departments. Responsibilities include identifying and prioritizing active government contracts and procurement vehicles that align with the Zayo product portfolio and solutions. This role will require strong networking and communication skills, along with a knowledge of government policies and procedures. The ability to navigate bureaucratic structures and work with multiple groups to accomplish goals is critical. 

Location: This remote work role will consider applications that reside in Texas and Denver, Colorado.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Capture daily bid opportunities: Monitor government procurement sites and utilize government insight tools to identify, and submit bids based on upcoming and active procurements.  

  • Identifying upcoming business opportunities: Identify, prioritize, and track government contract vehicles that align with Zayo’s product portfolio.  

  • Developing strategic plans: Creating and implementing strategies for priority accounts. Determine bid strategy including contract vehicles, service refresh timeline and Zayo’s capability to offer solutions to government agencies, departments, and municipalities.  

  • Building and maintaining client relationships: Cultivating relationships with new prospects to generate leads and foster long-term partnerships. This will include all levels of communication within technology and procurement departments across the government and partners.  

  • Partner Engagement: Identify new partnerships, including SMWB partners that Zayo can partner as a subcontractor on government contracts in place today.  

  • Staying updated on industry trends: Continuously learning about industry developments, emerging technologies, and market dynamics to adapt business development strategies accordingly. 

  • Providing feedback and insights: Offering valuable feedback to leadership based on market insights, client feedback, and sales data to inform strategic decision-making and improve business processes. 

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with government agencies and municipalities. 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or above with a minimum of three (3) years of related experience. 

  • Must have experience reading and analyzing government requests for proposals (RFPs) and requests for quotation (RFQs). 

  • Experience selling network infrastructure, internet, and voice/collaboration solutions is preferred. 

  • Candidate needs to possess exceptional organizational abilities to manage simultaneously occurring tasks. 

  • Interpersonal, communication, team-building, and attention to detail are critical skills. 

 

Estimated Base Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 USD/annually. This role is eligible to participate in the sales commission plan.

The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.

Additionally, this position may be eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance, life insurance, disability retirement plans, paid time off.
