The Manufacturing Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting efficient, safe, and reliable manufacturing operations through project coordination, preventative maintenance administration, and safety and compliance initiatives. This individual contributor role serves as a key liaison between production, maintenance, quality, and leadership teams to ensure operational objectives are achieved, equipment reliability is maintained, and compliance requirements are met.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and a demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

This position is an individual contributor role and does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Functions:

Manufacturing Project Coordination

  • Serve as the primary operational point of contact for assigned manufacturing projects, coordinating activities from project kickoff through production implementation.
  • Utilize Wrike to create project plans, assign tasks, track timelines, and monitor deliverables.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, quality, and leadership teams to ensure project milestones are achieved on schedule.
  • Identify potential production bottlenecks, resource constraints, or scheduling conflicts and implement corrective actions to minimize delays.
  • Maintain project documentation and provide regular status updates and performance metrics to leadership through dashboards and reports.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance manufacturing efficiency, quality, and productivity.

Safety and Compliance Support

  • Partner with leadership to promote a proactive culture of safety and accountability throughout the facility.
  • Assist in conducting safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain safety documentation, training records, incident reports, and corrective action plans using Intelex.
  • Participate in investigations involving workplace incidents, near misses, and safety concerns, assisting with root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and track required safety training programs for employees.
  • Support compliance initiatives related to environmental, health, and safety requirements.

Preventative Maintenance Management

  • Administer and maintain the preventative maintenance program for manufacturing equipment, machinery, and tools using Llumin.
  • Schedule and coordinate preventative maintenance activities, calibrations, repairs, and inspections with internal technicians and external vendors.
  • Generate and manage work orders, monitor completion status, and ensure maintenance activities are performed according to established schedules.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment service histories, repairs, and spare parts inventory.
  • Coordinate with purchasing and inventory teams to ensure critical replacement parts and supplies are available.
  • Utilize Microsoft Dynamics GP to support asset tracking, maintenance costs, and inventory management.
  • Analyze equipment downtime, maintenance trends, and performance data to identify opportunities for increased reliability and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification in manufacturing, industrial technology, operations management, engineering technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience coordinating manufacturing projects, maintenance programs, or safety initiatives preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing operations, production processes, equipment maintenance, and workplace safety practices.
  • Strong familiarity with the organization's products, equipment, and manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external vendors.
  • Proficiency with manufacturing and business systems, including project management, maintenance management, and ERP platforms.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to identify operational risks, equipment issues, safety hazards, and process inefficiencies and recommend practical solutions.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and manufacturing safety practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in reporting, documentation, and recordkeeping.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
