The Engineering Manager will provide leadership and oversight for the Software Engineering group. This role is accountable for guiding teams in applying secure software engineering principles to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software and cloud infrastructure. The Engineering Manager partners with cross-functional leadership to align business requirements, architecture, and technology direction while evaluating alternative approaches.
This leader ensures that software and systems are designed for functionality, scalability, resilience, and security, while also prioritizing developer and user experience. The role incorporates agile practices with a focus on delivering business value, fostering collaboration, and driving continuous improvement.
Importantly, this position requires recent, hands-on software development experience. The right candidate will be comfortable diving into the codebase when needed to support their teams and provide technical guidance.

Compensation includes a base salary of $119,600.00 - $199,400.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

As a Engineer Manager at Cox Automotive you will:
- Oversees Software Engineering processes and teams.
- Provides support and engage in the planning and delivery of product / solution releases.
- Ensures delivery of secure, high quality, well tested and scalable software to meet requirements of the customer and business.
- Prioritize and maintain the KTLO backlog and maintain a healthy KTLO roadmap to sustain the security and stability of our products.
- Assists with maintenance and prioritization of the product backlog.
- Engages with customers, end users and business partners to understand issues with software development and deployment.
- Ensures issues are resolved in a timely and sustainable fashion.
- Advocates secure coding practices and testing requirements.
- Ensures the teams are setup for success.
- Provides timely feedback (both positive and constructive) to team members.
- Builds a culture of supportive team, pride in ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Provides and supports good engineering practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 6 years' experience in a related field with at least 1 year experience in a management or lead role; or a different combination, such as a master's degree and 4 years' experience; or PhD and 1 year experience or 10 years' experience in a related field.
- 6+ years of managerial or leadership experience.
- 6+ years of recent, hands-on software development experience, with the ability to contribute directly to code and support engineering teams.
- Strong skills in analytical thinking, business acumen, requirements analysis, and technology problem-solving.
- Proven ability to build partnerships, engage stakeholders, guide team success, lead change, and establish a compelling vision.
- Cloud experience with AWS.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS platform skills including: EKS, Cognito, WAF, RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda, SQS, S3, Systems Manager
- Experience automating Terraform/CDK at scale
- Experience with Database Server infrastructure (RDS, MySQL, Postgres, etc)
- Github and GitHub Actions
- Experience with Dart/Flutter, NodeJS. CDK and/or Pega platform a plus.
