Overview:  

As a Software Engineering Manager at Sagent, you will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers in the design, troubleshooting, and optimization of software for our products and services. Your role will focus on achieving departmental goals through the work of others, with management responsibilities including performance appraisals, pay reviews, training, and development. You will apply your operational and strategic management skills to effectively manage the team and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality software solutions. Additionally, you will work to develop long and short-term strategies for product and service enhancement, leveraging your knowledge of major products, services, and application systems.

Your day-to-day at Sagent:

Team Management:
  • Manage a team of software engineers, providing leadership, guidance, and support to achieve departmental goals and objectives for our Loanserv Product.
  • Conduct performance appraisals, reviews, and provide ongoing training and development opportunities for team members.
Software Development Oversight:
  • Oversee the design, development, testing, and debugging software applications, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  • Monitor applications, identify and resolve technical issues, and analyze software trends to drive continuous improvement.
Strategic Planning:
  • Work to develop long and short-term strategies for product and service enhancement, aligning with organizational goals and objectives.
Resource Management:
  • Identify, plan, and mobilize resources required to fulfill operational objectives within the software engineering function, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication and collaboration on software development projects.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to provide updates on project status and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Science, or relevant discipline with  5 - 6 years of experience in a related field, including at least 2 years in a manager’s role within a SaaS or financial technology company.  Experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Proven ability to achieve goals through the work of others, with management responsibilities including performance appraisals, pay reviews, training, and development.
  • Strong operational or strategic management skills, with a focus on managing others and applying operational or strategic management skills to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Experience in managing a team of software engineers, providing leadership, guidance, and support to ensure the successful delivery of software solutions.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing software applications, with a strong understanding of software engineering principles and best practices.
  • Knowledge of major software products, services, and application systems used in financial environments.
  • Experience with software development and support in multiple operating environments is highly desirable.

Additional Skills/Technical Knowledge Preferred: 

  • Proficient in COBOL, JCL, CICS, and VSAM.
  • Hands-on experience with tools like File Manager, Fault Analyzer, APA, and OMEGAMON.
  • Experience with Web Services (SOAP/REST) for system integration and data exchange.
  • Basic experience with Azure Monitor: configuring, managing, and troubleshooting alert rules.
