About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to be the first dedicated procurement hire at Commure. You will be the architect of our procurement function, building everything from the ground up. This role is perfect for a strategic, hands-on leader who is passionate about building a best-in-class procurement function that drives significant cost savings, operational efficiency, and financial discipline across the organization.
You will design and implement the company's strategic sourcing framework, from initial business intake to vendor selection and negotiation. Your success will be measured by your ability to deliver quantifiable cost reductions and avoidance, streamline the purchasing process, and embed a culture of cost-consciousness, all while enabling the business to move quickly.
What You'll Do
Architect an Efficient Intake-to-Procure Process: Design and build the "front door" for all company purchasing. You will create a clear, efficient, and user-friendly process for business partners to submit requests, ensuring strategic alignment from the very beginning.
Lead Strategic Sourcing for Cost Reduction: Drive the sourcing strategy for key categories (SaaS, Marketing, IT, Professional Services). You will lead competitive sourcing events (RFx) and commercial negotiations to deliver significant, measurable cost savings and mitigate risk.
Drive Change Management: Champion a shift in buying behaviors across the company. You will educate and train employees on the value of early engagement with procurement and the financial impact of strategic purchasing.
Develop Strategic Partnerships: Serve as the primary point of contact for procurement and build deep, collaborative relationships with key business partners, including department leaders, general managers, and leaders in Legal (for contract review), Finance (for budget alignment), and Accounts Payable (for a seamless payment process).
Analyze Spend to Drive Savings: Aggressively analyze spend data to identify and execute on opportunities for cost reduction, cost avoidance, and demand management, presenting your findings and strategy to executive leadership.
Track & Report on Financial Impact: Develop and manage procurement KPIs, regularly reporting on performance against cost reduction, avoidance, and efficiency targets to executive leadership.
What You'll Bring
Experience: 7+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or a related field, with a proven track record of success in a high-growth, fast-paced environment. Experience in tech or SaaS is strongly preferred.
A Builder's Mindset: You have experience standing up procurement functions from scratch, with a focus on creating strategic sourcing and intake processes in a rapidly scaling company.
Exceptional Negotiation Skills: You are a master negotiator with a quantifiable track record of delivering substantial cost savings and avoidance through strategic sourcing and direct negotiation. In depth knowledge and experience negotiating a wide range of consulting agreements, subcontract agreements, statement of works including legal terms and conditions.
Influence & Change Management Expertise: You are a natural relationship-builder and can effectively persuade and guide stakeholders through change without direct authority. You communicate with clarity, empathy, and conviction.
Systems Savvy: Hands-on experience with e-procurement, intake, and PO systems (e.g., Bill, Zip, Coupa, NetSuite, Lexion, Ironclad).
Analytical & Data-Driven: You are highly analytical, with the ability to transform spend data into actionable insights that lead directly to cost reduction and process efficiency improvements.
A bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field.
