Job Description Summary:

The Manager, Privacy Compliance is responsible for ensuring enterprise data is managed in accordance with established data governance policies, privacy regulations, and ethical data practices. This role serves as a key liaison between business teams, data owners, legal, compliance, and technology stakeholders to protect sensitive information, maintain data quality standards, and support regulatory compliance obligations. 

The Privacy Steward supports the establishment and ongoing maintenance of Data Subject Rights (DSR) processes across Operating Units, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant responses to privacy requests. This role also helps establish governance controls, maintain privacy documentation, monitor compliance activities, and drive continuous improvement through standardization, automation, and collaboration across the enterprise. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Data Governance & Stewardship 

  • Support implementation and adoption of enterprise data governance policies, standards, and procedures. 

  • Collaborate with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Legal, Compliance, and Technology teams to maintain governance controls for sensitive and regulated data. 

  • Promote data accountability and stewardship practices across business functions. 

  • Assist in the definition, documentation, and maintenance of critical data elements, business glossaries, and data ownership models. 

  • Monitor adherence to data governance standards and escalate risks or policy exceptions as appropriate. 

Privacy Compliance & Data Protection 

  • Support compliance with global privacy regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable privacy requirements. 

  • Maintain documentation of privacy-related processes, controls, and operational procedures. 

  • Partner with Legal, Information Security, and Compliance teams to remediate and/or close privacy risks and control gaps assigned to the Data Governance team. 

  • Ensure privacy controls are integrated into governance processes and data management activities. 

Data Subject Rights (DSR) Management 

  • Coordinate and facilitate the systems and processes that support fulfillment of Data Subject Rights requests by the Operating Units and Functions. 

  • Maintain documentation of DSR processes across Operating Units, including process maps, fulfillment teams, key contacts, and systems involved. 

  • Track request volumes, response timelines, completion rates, and compliance metrics. 

  • Ensure DSR requests are processed accurately, consistently, and within regulatory timeframes. 

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate DSR fulfillment activities. 

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement 

  • Develop and maintain centralized documentation repositories for privacy and governance processes. 

  • Facilitate recurring global forums to enable DSR teams to share challenges, best practices, regulatory updates, and automation opportunities. 

  • Assist in identifying process inefficiencies and recommending improvements to strengthen compliance and operational effectiveness. 

  • Support implementation of governance and privacy technologies that improve transparency, efficiency, and audit readiness. 

  • Contribute to the development of privacy and governance reporting, dashboards, and performance metrics. 

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication 

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders on data governance and privacy-related requirements. 

  • Coordinate communications between business units, privacy teams, legal counsel, and technology teams. 

  • Deliver awareness and educational sessions on privacy obligations, data stewardship responsibilities, and governance standards. 

  • Foster collaboration across global teams to ensure consistent privacy and governance practices. 

 

Education Requirements 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Business Administration, Information Security, Legal Studies, or a related field. 

  • Professional certifications in privacy, governance, compliance, or data management preferred, such as:  

  • CIPP (Certified Information Privacy Professional) 

  • CIPM (Certified Information Privacy Manager) 

  • CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) 

  • Data Governance or Compliance certifications 

 

Related Work Experience 

  • 3-7 years of experience in Data Governance, Privacy, Compliance, Data Management, Information Security, Risk Management, or related disciplines. 

  • Experience supporting privacy compliance programs and regulatory requirements such as GDPR and CCPA. 

  • Experience coordinating Data Subject Rights (DSR) or privacy operations processes preferred. 

  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks, stewardship practices, and data quality concepts. 

  • Experience documenting business processes, controls, and operational procedures. 

  • Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders across business, legal, compliance, and technology organizations. 

  • Experience leveraging governance, privacy, workflow, or case management tools preferred.

Pay Range:

United States of America: 124,600 USD - 148,200 USD

Base pay offered may vary depending on geography, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position, is offered.
