The position reports to the Director of Energy Asset Management and has authority to develop policies, oversee self-audits, coordinate internal control testing and interface with NERC and the regional reliability organizations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned

· Lead the NERC Compliance Program

Administer the company’s GO/GOP compliance program, ensuring that policies and procedures meet NERC Reliability Standards and internal controls are executed effectively. Similar roles emphasize managing facility level compliance programs, identifying potential compliance issues, and supporting program improvements.

· Develop and Maintain Documentation and Evidence

Collaborate with subject matter experts to produce and maintain compliance documentation (plans, procedures, test reports, event analyses and mitigation plans) needed to demonstrate compliance during audits. Oversee alignment of documentation in corporate systems (e.g., SharePoint, audit tracking databases).

· Coordinate Regulatory Audits and Reporting

Plan, schedule and lead internal self-audits and external audits by NERC or regional entities. Prepare audit packages, submit periodic reports and facilitate responses to inquiries. Manage mock audits and annual spot checks to maintain continuous audit readiness.

· Assess Risks and Monitor Compliance

Conduct compliance risk assessments; monitor implementation of mitigation plans; track changes in NERC standards and FERC orders; and evaluate the impact of new projects on compliance obligations. NERC training guidance

emphasizes that entities must build a culture of compliance and understand the implications of being a registered entity.

· Training and Culture of Compliance

Design and deliver training programs for plant personnel, control room operators and corporate staff. Provide guidance on interpreting NERC standards and foster an organization wide culture of compliance

· Liaison with Regulators and Industry Groups

Serve as the primary point of contact with NERC, regional reliability organizations (MRO, WECC and others), FERC and Canadian authorities. Represent the company at regional working groups, standards development meetings and industry forums; stay informed on emerging reliability issues and best practices

· Manage Staff and Consultants (for Senior Manager Role)

Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:

· Experience

At least 7–10 years of NERC compliance experience in the power sector, with significant exposure to multiple NERC reliability regions such as MRO or WECC. Experience working for an independent power producer or investor-owned utility in GO/GOP registration categories is strongly preferred. Senior Manager candidates should also have several years of managerial experience leading compliance teams

· Technical Knowledge

Deep understanding of NERC Operations & Planning (O&P) standards and Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) requirements. The candidate must be able to interpret and implement standards, perform internal controls, and advise on technical implications of plant modifications. Familiarity with FERC regulations, regional entity compliance programs and related Canadian regulations is essential.

· Education

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, information systems, business or related field (STEM preferred). An advanced degree or professional certification in compliance, cybersecurity or power systems is advantageous.

· Skills

Strong analytical, organizational and project management skills; excellent written and oral communication; ability to work independently and collaboratively; proficiency with compliance tracking tools and documentation systems (e.g., Microsoft 365, SharePoint, data automation platforms)

· Travel and Residency

Ability to travel to U.S. and Canadian sites (up to ~25%); authorized to work in the U.S. or Canada; remote work arrangement possible.

Preferred / Desirable Qualifications:

· Certifications

NERC System Operator Certification (Balancing, Interchange & Transmission), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) for CIP, or Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) are valuable. Participation in NERC training and regional compliance forums is highly desirable.

· Continuous Improvement Mindset

Demonstrated ability to identify process improvement opportunities, lead root cause analyses and implement best practices

Why This Role Matters:

NERC and regional entities rigorously enforce reliability standards; violations can result in substantial fines and reputational damage. As a Senior Manager/Manager in NERC compliance, you will protect the reliability of the bulk power system, support the company’s expansion, and ensure that operations across U.S. and Canadian jurisdictions adhere to evolving reliability and cybersecurity mandates.
