The Manager, Money Mentor will lead the Bank’s Money Mentor financial coaching feature, available to Thrivent Money clients, to help clients build financial confidence, resilience, achieve financial goals and strengthen their financial literacy.

This role will oversee a team of Money Mentors, develop coaching standards, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to scale impact and ensure alignment with the Bank’s strategic imperative to promote financial wellbeing through accessible advice.

         

          

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:  

 

Strategic leadership 

  • Define, design, and develop the overall curriculum for the Money Mentor feature using human-centered design and behavioral science research. 

  • Identify opportunities to refine the feature and drive program innovation to meet performance objectives. 

Program Management and Operations 

  • Design and implement a scalable coaching model across various channels (virtual, phone, chat) 

  • Oversee performance metrics, evaluation tools and reporting systems to assess program effectiveness and client outcomes. 

Team Leadership 

  • Hire, train, and manage a team of 7-10 Money Mentors across multiple remote locations 

  • Foster a culture of empathy, accountability, continuous improvement and excellence in client service and experience. 

Partnerships and Collaboration 

  • Work cross-functionally with product, marketing, compliance, and digital teams 

  • Establish partnerships with Bank call center and Thrivent Virtual Advice (as appropriate and warranted) 

Compliance and Quality Assurance  

  • Ensure all coaching activities are complaint with Federal and State regulations 

  • Maintain high ethical standards and protect client confidentiality and privacy

This role is primarily an individual contributor with exposure to Thrivent Bank senior leadership and their teams. 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:   

 Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree  

  • 5-7+ years of active financial coaching for individuals, younger more diverse a plus (18-34 years old) 

  • 5-7+ years of experience in personal finance, financial wellness, financial coaching, training/facilitation  

  • Ability to integrate needs assessment into practical action. 

  • Excellent consultative and relationship skills.  

  • Team player capable of working with success across diverse functional areas.  

  • Proven experience applying and implementing experiences informed by human-centered design principles.  

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication/presentation skills.  

 

Preferred: 

  • Financial coaching certification (CCUFC, AFC®, CPFC, CFT™, CFEI, or other)

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $118,105.00 - $159,788.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
