Job Description
The Space & Mission Systems, Ground Systems & Services Business area of BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems (SMS) is seeking a visionary and results-driven Capture Management Solution Architect to lead the technical capture strategy for large-scale, complex Space Ground Enterprise Solutions.
In this pivotal role, you will bridge the gap between business development, capture management, and deep technical engineering. You will own the technical solution architecture from pre-RFP positioning through proposal submission, driving winning strategies for US Government, DoW, Intelligence Community (IC), and commercial space customers.
The Ground Systems & Services (GSS) Strategic Business Unit is responsible for driving business growth in the ground systems development, operations & sustainment, and technical services markets. This business unit focuses on designing, building and integrating ground systems in support of air and space-based assets, providing operational support for mission platforms and instruments and offering scientific and engineering expertise to our customers.
What You'll Do:
  • Technical Capture Leadership: Partner closely with Capture Managers, Business Development and Engineering teams to shape Requests for Information (RFIs), Sources Sought, and RFPs. Translate customer pain points into discriminators and winning technical solutions.
  • Solution Architecture & Design: Architect comprehensive, scalable, and resilient ground enterprise solutions: including satellite operations centers, command and control (C2), mission planning, ground stations, telemetry, tracking, and control (TT&C), and ground data processing pipelines.
  • Proposal Development: Lead the development of technical volumes, white papers, and orals presentations. Ensure compliance with solicitation requirements while weaving in compelling win themes, ghosts, and innovative differentiators.
  • Industry Teaming: Identify, vet, and manage strategic teaming partners, subcontractors, and technology vendors to build a best-in-class solution team.
  • Customer Engagement: Serve as a credible technical architect during customer touchpoints, industry days, and pink/red/gold team reviews.
  • Participate in business planning activities, to include periodic pipeline reviews, operating plan development, bid agenda development, opportunity gate reviews, black hat sessions, win theme and discriminator workshops, and proposal reviews.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.

Short Term Incentive: Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field plus 12 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • A current, active Top Secret security clearance is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Polygraph.
  • Previous experience working within the U.S. Government Space System Acquisition or Space Operations organizations is desired.
  • Experience supporting programs with space industry customers focused on opportunity identification and development, long term strategy development, and program capture.
  • Demonstrated understanding and familiarity with existing DoW and IC space ground architectures and systems, future modernization plans, and key community stakeholders (across government and industry).
  • Mission Architecture Design: Proven experience designing end-to-end, resilient ground segment architectures for satellite command and control (C2), telemetry, tracking, and commanding (TT&C), and mission planning.
  • Modern Architectural Paradigms: Expertise in designing cloud-native, microservices-based, and event-driven architectures utilizing containerization (Kubernetes, Docker) and service meshes within secure environments.
  • Interoperability & Multi-Mission Design: Experience designing multi-mission ground systems capable of supporting heterogeneous constellations (LEO/MEO/GEO) and dynamic, multi-tenant operations.
  • Knowledgeable of price to win strategies.
  • Ability to support strategic planning, competitor intelligence analysis, solution development, and lifecycle management.
  • Ability to think strategically.
  • Ability to negotiate effectively with customers, industry partners, and teammates.
  • Ability to interface with senior levels of government and internal executives.
  • Excellent collaboration and team building skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $153377 - $260743
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
