Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

The Risk Standards team plays a critical role in enabling Stripe to grow while protecting our users, end customers, and the broader financial ecosystem from harm. We do this by establishing clear policies and standards that govern what types of business activity Stripe will support and under what conditions.

As the Head of Risk Standards, you will set the team’s strategic direction and oversee the development of policies and standards that safely enable new products, industries, and markets. You will collaborate with Legal, Partnerships, Go-To-Market, and other stakeholders to design well-calibrated standards and user requirements matched to Stripe’s risk appetite. You will work closely with Product and Engineering teams to build and scale standards and controls.

As a trusted leader with strong business acumen, you will provide expert guidance and analyses to leadership, to our most strategic customers, and to financial partners to enable Stripe to grow in a risk-conscious manner.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a team that drives risk strategy for company-level strategic initiatives that are designed to enable Stripe to grow safely
  • Oversee the design of risk standards and controls that are precise, implementable, and appropriately balance risk and reward
  • Manage risk in Stripe’s portfolio by developing a deep understanding of regulatory and financial partner requirements across products, industries, and geographies
  • Partner with Risk teams, particularly Product and Engineering, to ensure they are able to effectively implement standards and policies
  • Partner with cross functional teams including Legal, Partnerships, Public Policy, and others to solve complex risk challenges
  • Represent Stripe in external engagements with our most critical partners and customers
