Join us at Cengage in this highly visible role as a Manager, Corporate FP&A where you will have the exciting opportunity to contribute to our mission by continuously improving our finance team operations and evaluating opportunities to generate value for the Group. This would be an attractive role for someone with an investment banking, private equity, or consulting background who is interested in pivoting to corporate finance to develop skills in business partnering, advanced financial modeling, and complex analysis.
What you will do here:
Collaborate with FP&A team members and business partners to develop and lead financial planning activities, including budgeting, short- and long-term forecasting, and revenue and expense driver analysis
Lead long-range planning process and activities for Cengage, including modeling, coordination, and consolidation of business unit financial projections and initiatives
Design, build and maintain models to support long-term business decision-making by understanding P&L, cash flow, working capital and other impacts
Identifies revenue-generating and expense efficiency opportunities based on understanding of business unit economics
Develops financial projections to support planning and investment decisions
Assist in developing market, industry and competitor intelligence and analyzing business opportunities, including acquisitions or divestitures
Advanced Financial Modeling & Analysis
Collaborate with key stakeholders (Strategy, Treasury, Corporate Development, etc.) to support with ad hoc analysis regarding business efficiency, capital structure, and M&A opportunities
Proactively identify areas of improvement across Cengage Group, develop analysis to communicate opportunities to executive leadership, then support business partners in implementing change to realize benefits
Support maintenance of Group 3-statement model with evaluation of actual results and impact on future trends to develop rolling forecasts
Lead capital allocation analysis to identify areas across Group with the greatest capacity for investment; manage portfolio of projects in partnership with business stakeholders while tracking revenue generations, expenses incurred, and evaluating ROI
Lead the development of budgeting and forecasting decks for discussion with the executive team, sponsors, and board of directors
Skills you will need here:
Minimum of 3-5 years’ in a FP&A, analytics consulting, private equity, or investment banking role
Proven knowledge of financial statements - Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow
Familiarity with mechanics of financial transactions, including M&A, debt refinancing, and equity raises
Excellent working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with SAP S/4HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), Hyperion, or Power BI is a plus.
Excellent interpersonal and organization skills with an ability to balance multiple activities, prioritize and manage workload, and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
Strong verbal and written communications
Outstanding analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
Curiosity, resourcefulness, flexibility, and a willingness to collaborate
Self-starter who takes initiative; confident under pressure and able to consistently meet deadlines

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.
