THE OPPORTUNITY: 

The Manager, Communications Research plays a vital role in advancing ActBlue's mission by executing critical research initiatives and ensuring our platform maintains the highest standards of integrity. This role conducts due diligence on entities, monitors legislative and digital fundraising developments, and provides research support for organizational needs.

Key responsibilities include supporting day-to-day research operations, conducting entity vetting and compliance reviews, and maintaining internal research databases. You'll track key legal and regulatory policy developments, conduct research for risk management initiatives, and collaborate with teams across the organization to identify potential vulnerabilities.

Working closely with the Senior Manager of Research, this position will help execute the department's operational priorities and ensure efficient delivery of research products. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute meaningful work and make a difference in the progressive movement!

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Partner with the Senior Manager in managing daily research operations, including original research projects and maintaining internal research databases;
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager in leading entity vetting operations across Customer Service, Outreach, Legal, and Compliance teams; independently assess compliance with ActBlue policies and draft enforcement recommendations for senior leadership review
  • Execute rapid response research requests in coordination with the Communications team and internal stakeholders;
  • Conduct research to support proactive strategies around issues affecting ActBlue and its users;
  • Lead independent research projects from conception to completion with minimal supervision, including defining scope, developing methodology, conducting analysis, and drafting final recommendations;
  • Operate as a strategic thought partner with the Senior Manager in identifying and prioritizing research projects based on organizational needs;
  • Supervise and mentor research associates, providing guidance on complex vetting cases;
  • Help team members track and improve upon their work plans and professional development goals;
  • Coordinate cross-functional research projects and serve as thought partner with other departments;
  • May support supplementary projects as assigned, ensuring timely and efficient completion in line with organizational objectives and standards.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • 5-7 years or equivalent of professional experience in research, analysis, or related fields;
  • Experience managing and executing complex research projects with multiple stakeholders;
  • Proven track record of managing, supervising, or mentoring junior staff, including providing feedback, conducting performance reviews, and supporting professional development;
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting due diligence, compliance reviews, or risk assessment;
  • Proficiency with research databases, including Nexis, campaign finance databases, and other vetting tools;
  • Strong research skills with exceptional attention to detail, precision, and organization;
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with ability to synthesize complex information clearly;
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and composure during high-volume, fast-paced periods;
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders;
  • Comfort with making recommendations and presenting findings to senior decision makers;
  • Experience using federal and state government databases and multiple data sources;
  • A collaborative working style withan interest in mentoring and supporting team members;
  • Enthusiasm for continuous learning and professional growth;

This posting is for a full-time, remote, salaried position. Travel may be required on a limited basis to attend all-staff and departmental retreats (1-2 times per year). Additional travel may be required for select positions.

Work Location: This is a full-time, remote, salaried position.
Work Schedule: This role requires availability during established, regular business hours (Mon-Fri).

Work Environment: Employees can expect to work with distributed teams across all U.S. time zones. Our roles require extended technology usage, and proficiency with virtual communication tools such as Zoom and Slack. Regular attendance in virtual meetings is inherent to every position.

Salary Range Details:

Salary Range: $92,700 - $116,400 - $140,100

ActBlue is committed to consistent compensation practices across our organization. Final salary offers will take into account factors such as candidate experience, interview performance and current team salary parity.
