Job Description Summary:

As a member of the Customer Solutions Engineering (CSE) team, the Manager, Business Operations is responsible for the efficient, accurate, and standards based day-to-day management of the financial data held in the Professional Services Automation (PSA) application, and the surrounding business workflows affecting the Rocket systems and data. They manage a team of CSE Operations Analysts who are responsible for accurate project setup in the PSA system, and the capture, reporting and control of revenue and billing transactions for the CSE professional services business. In addition to managing a team, the Manager, Business Operations performs operational duties at a Principal competence level, most often in a leadership role toward the development of the team’s capabilities.
The ideal person for this role has a knack for noticing things that don’t look right in a system, and they stay a little bothered until they dig into it and understand. They’re comfortable with numbers and rules, they pick up concepts quickly and are good at keeping details straight. They find it really satisfying to design elegant, repeatable processes to meet messy operational requirements, they habitually write things down and they’re good at teaching others. They might have a favorite Excel formula. They lead by example, with kindness and empathy, and inspire their team to live up to their high standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Functional Responsibilities

  • Ensures engagements are set up correctly in the PSA to facilitate invoicing and other operational goals.
  • Responsible for the capture, reporting and control of accurate invoicing and revenue transactions for the CSE professional services business; performs oversight and reconciliation of the transactional data to ensure accuracy.
  • Develops a deep understanding of Rocket CSE’s operational policies and rules related to professional services invoicing, revenue recognition, commercial terms and related areas; answers questions related to these topics from other functions in CSE and makes recommendations when new situations arise. 
  • Creates efficient processes to accommodate new business requirements while minimizing additional workload.
  • Ensures operational processes are documented and followed by the CSE Operations team.
  • Ensures precision in onboarding of new entities and acquired companies as relates to CSE Operations.
  • Acts as a CSE Operations liaison with Finance, Sales Operations and other CSE functions to contribute to cross-functional efforts.
  • Ensures their team is meeting constituent needs and CSE Operational tasks are completed correctly, on a timely basis.

Team Management

  • Manages a team of CSE Operations Analysts.
  • Mentors and develops team members, providing guidance in career path development; provides oversight to ensure a high quality of work.
  • Completes performance reviews in accordance with Rocket policy.
  • Communicates with team members frequently, providing feedback, seeking understanding of employee satisfaction and concerns, and taking appropriate follow up actions.
  • Performs standard managerial administrative tasks in line with Rocket policies.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 to 8 years experience in related position in a Professional Services or Consulting organization, including responsibility for billing and revenue recognition transactions.
  • Experience with Salesforce Kantata SX/Kimble or Oracle ERP.
  • Experience with reporting tools and database concepts.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills across multi-disciplined teams.
  • Experience with scaling Operational functions; including originating and documenting processes.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail.
  • Deep experience in the connection between processes and data, with a strong commitment to ensuring data accuracy and implementing processes that support and maintain data integrity. '
  • Excellent conceptual skills, translating and transforming business requirements to work products, such as reporting and dashboards.
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship management, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thrives on continual improvement and implementation of process changes.
  • Refusal to accept less than exceptional ‘as-is’ state, influencing others toward continual, meaningful improvement.

The base salary range for this role is $95,172.00 - $118,965.00 /year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
