This is a US field-based position responsible for communicating and refining health economic and outcomes research (HEOR) evidence that supports payer engagement activities across GRAIL’s diagnostic portfolio. This is accomplished through high-quality, non-promotional scientific exchange, including payer-focused education, evidence discussions, and responses to unsolicited medical and scientific inquiries.
In this position, you will partner closely with the Market Access Payer Engagement and Government Affairs teams, serving as a scientific and economic subject matter expert (SME) when payer-facing interactions require deep HEOR expertise. The role combines scientific and clinical fluency with strong understanding of payer evidence expectations, reimbursement considerations, and value communication. This role partners closely with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Government Affairs, and Commercial teams and plays a critical role in shaping payer value narratives and supporting evidence-based messaging.
Responsibilities:
Support scientific exchange related to payer-facing evidence resources, including AMCP dossiers, evidence summaries, and value communication materials
Partner with Market Access teams to translate complex clinical, economic, and real-world evidence into clear, payer-relevant insights
Act as the HEOR subject matter expert in payer engagements, particularly for deep-dive evidence discussions, and elicit, capture, and communicate relevant payer insights
Communicate clinical, health economic, outcomes, and real-world evidence relevant to payer coverage and reimbursement decisions
Demonstrate strong working knowledge of payer evidence frameworks, budget impact concepts, value narratives, and real-world evidence methodologies
Summarize and communicate complex medical, scientific, and economic concepts clearly to both external stakeholders and internal partners
As part of the HEOR team, identify data gaps and inform future research priorities to address payer needs
Support development and refinement of value frameworks and evidence summaries to enhance payer value demonstration, including those focused on economic modeling
Ensure consistency and scientific rigor across all payer-facing economic content and messaging
Ensure all activities and interactions adhere to corporate compliance policies and healthcare regulations
Participate in regional and national meetings in support of medical and access objectives
Support internal education on payer value and health economics communication
Maintain clinical, scientific, and health economic expertise relevant to GRAIL’s products
Engage in continuous learning to stay current on diagnostics, payer policy trends, guidelines, and evolving evidence requirements
Required Qualifications:
Advanced degree in a relevant discipline (PhD, PharmD, MD, MPH, MS, or equivalent) with training in health economics, outcomes research, epidemiology, or related field
Minimum 3 years of experience in HEOR, Market Access, or Medical Affairs within diagnostics, biotechnology, or pharmaceuticals
Deep experience and expertise in payer landscape which could include developing payer value materials, working within a payer, or engaging payers
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Familiarity with health economic modeling methodologies and real-world evidence analysis
Ability to engage confidently with senior payer stakeholders and subject-matter experts
Understanding of US payer evidence requirements and coverage decision drivers
Ability to work independently while maintaining strong cross-functional collaboration
Willingness to travel extensively (approximately 25 - 35%) in support of internal collaboration and external engagements
